Whats good Johnnie Floss? Been a minute, whats been going on?
Just working hard man. Trying to get to the next level.

Give the readers a refresher on where your from and what you do?
I'm from Brooklyn, NY and I'm a Hip-Hop artist.

You seem a little busier now a days, whats the focus all about?
Well I'm apart of a new situation that's putting me in the right places and my album is on deck so yes I'm focused but excited.

Talk about 'Flossin 24/7'..whats the concept and who are you currently working with on the production side?
I got the concept from the HBO Series "24/7". It goes behind the scenes of each boxer and shows how they prepare for their opponent and also their daily lives. The same way we connect with the fighters on another level is the same way you'll connect with me on my album.

How will the album differ in regards to how you would approach a mixtape project?
Well a mix tape project is gonna be directed more to the street. An album is a collection of your best work so you can be a little more flexible when it comes to concepts and song titles.

With the saturation of rappers in NYC how do you plan to stand out in today's market?
Well many artist have the same story but what sets you apart from the rest is how you tell your story and why you tell your story that way. With that included with the fact that you have to make hit records I think that's the best way I'll stand out.

Once the album drops whats next on the agenda?
Definitely to see the kind of feedback I'm gonna receive and to keep making quality music. So anybody that wants to make great records just reach out to me.

Whats up Johnnie Floss? Tell the world about your movement.
My movement starts with my production team Traxx 1st Productions LLC. I'm their first artist.

For those new to the name tell us where it came from?
It came from one of my producers, J.Dot. First my name was Teflon John but he felt that didn't fit me. So he came up with Johnnie Floss because that's what I represent. Being flashy and flossy.

When did hip-hop grab your attention and make you decide to follow it as a career path?
I had to be 13 or 14. I had to do a poetry assignment but I turned it into a rhyme. Plus I had a lot of people in my neighborhood saying your really got at it so that gave me the motivation to pursue it full time.

Who are some of your musical influences?
I know these might sound clique or corny but definitely Notorious B.I.G., Jay-z, Nas, Tupac and a few others. I also get influenced by music other than Hip-Hop like R&B and Jazz because its relaxing and it helps me write.

Being from BK, NYC you have some BIG shoes to fill, no pun intended. How do you intend to rep for your borough and make your predecessors proud?
Just by making good music and showing you can relate to me through my bars. A lot of artists have similar stories but its how you bring your story to life that sets you apart from the rest of the pack.

Lets talk about your new album about to drop 'Flossin 24/7', what can new fans expect to experience?
They can experience getting to know me on a personal level because I'm not just attacking one style of music. Yes I'm a Hip-Hop artist but there is going to be all types of different genres on this album.

Who were some of the artists and producers you worked with?
As far as producers of course my team Traxx 1st productions, Fantum, Sev da producer and a few more in the works. As far as artist I worked wit Lex(from the group "Mr. Peterson" UMA winners in '08), Cheszarae(female R&B), Fantum(Bang 'em Beats Inc.) and a few others in the works.

What was your creative approach to making the album and what do you want people to say once they have listened?
My approach was to be as versatile as possible. I want my listeners to want to play the album over and over. I want them to feel like they can't pick a favorite song because they love all of them.

Whats next on the agenda for 2010?
Definitely bigger and better things. Bigger features and bigger records. Also to work with the best that's out there. So get at me if you want to work with me.

"Johnnie Floss on Rapmullet.com"

Whats up Johnnie Floss, been a minute since our last interview, how have things been?

Everything is great man. I'm loving the new direction I'm going in.

For those who didn't catch the first interview, give the readers some background on the movement?

Well its starts with my production team Traxx 1st Production LLC. They're based out in Queens and I'm their first artist representing Brooklyn.

Being from BK and being a rapper is like being a needle in a haystack in regards to getting a deal, how do you intend to stand out and make your own mark?

Well no matter where you from you gotta make hits and bring your own style to it. I know I have that ability so I feel it won't be that much of a problem for me to stand out.

Your also a very lyrical emcee, do you feel that in todays market lyrics matter as much as they have in the golden era of the 90's?

I honestly don't think so but I take pride in what I say. Don't get me wrong there are many records that are great and are not lyrical but I want my listeners to not only feel my record but to feel my lyrics as well.

Have you felt compelled to dumb it down for the sake of 'fitting in' with today's popular music?

Not at all because if you are true to something its going to show. To be honest if a true lyricist tries to dumb down they won't sound right. In my opinion true artist don't dumb down.

So lets chop it up about the new album 'Flossin 24/7', is this a bunch of talk about cars, jewelry, the ladies or can we expect a real diverse album with lyrical content?

You're definitely gonna get lyrical content. Yes I have party joints and songs that make you feel good but I also tackle real life issues and I have diverse records about a lot of different topics.

What was your approach in making the album and what do you want others to take away from it?

My approach was to be versatile. I want you to relate to each and every record. This is not gonna be a narrow minded project or a project that just goes in one direction. I have songs for everybody on there.

Who were the producers and artists you collaborated with on the album?

As far as producers of course my team Traxx 1st productions, Fantum, Sev da producer and a few more in the works. As far as artist I worked wit Lex(from the group "Mr. Peterson" UMA winners in '08), Cheszarae(female R&B), Fantum(Bang 'em Beats Inc.) and a few others in the works.

Whats next for Johnnie Floss?

More features, more appearances and more great music. So if you're interested in working with me just get at me and we can make it happen.

"Johnnie Floss on iStandardProducers.com"

Hey Johnnie Floss, for those not yet familiar with the name, let everyone know about your journey.

I been grinding on the underground scene for about 2 years now. Almost any showcase you can name that's in New York I have performed in.

Brooklyn has always brought fresh new emcees and producers to the game, what’s the climate like in BK nowadays and what are you doing to carry the new torch?

Brooklyn is always going to produce great artist because we are hungry and we take pride in our craft. I'm bringing that same hunger and creativity but with my own flair. I'm pretty sure people are going to feel me.

Your new album ‘Flossin 24/7’ is on deck. From a production standpoint take us through your creative approach? What sound did you want to get across?

I wanted to show versatility because I want everyone to connect with me and enjoy my music. I'm not a narrow minded artist so you will hear me experiment with a lot of different sounds and tackle a lot of subjects.

What producers did you work with and what did they bring to the table in regards to the overall concept?

I worked with a lot of producers outside of my team because I wanted to do something fresh and I also wanted to "step out the box" so to speak because I don't want my future fans to get bored with me.

When you work with a new producer what are some of the key things that get your attention?

If I hear a beat I look for a specific sound in the beat that makes it unique. There are a lot of beats out there that sound the same but all it takes is the right snare or right horns or whatever that sets it apart from the others.

If you could work with any 3 established producers in the game who would they be and why?

Definitely Dr. Dre because he is a legend and you know a Dre beat off the back. His sound is incredible. The next one would have to be Timbaland because he doesn't have a specific sound. I've heard a lot of Tim's beats and said to myself wow Tim made that. Last but not least I would love to work with Pharell because his style is very unique. He not only can give you a different sound every time but he can also give you a track for any genre of music and that's why I think he's so amazing.

What do you think of producers that eventually turn into emcee’s such as Kanye, Swizz and Pharell? What does that bring to the game?

I love it. I think it definitely shows their versatility and that's one of the most important aspects in this industry. Being multi-talented definitely sets you apart from a lot of artist.

What’s next on the agenda?

Just to keep grinding, making great music and working with artist or producers that I haven't yet. As well as features so just get at me if you want me on your joint.

Hey Johnnie Floss, let the readers know about your movement

My movement starts with my production team Traxx 1st Productions. I'm their first artist representing Brooklyn, NY while they are based out in Queens, NY.

When did hip hop grab your attention?

I was 13 years old. I always listen to Hip-Hop because my father gave me knowledge about it. I was in school and my teacher gave us a poetry assignment but I didn't stick to the format so that was officially my first rhyme and the rest is history.

Who are some of your influences musically?

I know these answers might be clique but definitely Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Tupac, Nas and a few others. Also I'm influenced by other music that's not Hip-Hop like R&B and Jazz.

Being from BK you have some big shoes to fill (no pun intended), how do you plan to stick out in this saturated music industry?

Well my music speaks for itself. In order to stick out you have to make hit records but at the same time express yourself from your point of view. I know what I bring that's different and now its time to show the world so they can know and connect with me.

Lets talk about your up coming album ‘Flossing 24/7’. What’s the concept and what can the listeners expect to hear?

If your familiar with boxing the concept is from the HBO series "24/7". It goes behind the scenes and shows how the two opponents prepare for one another and their daily lives. That's what you will get from my album. Connecting with me on a personal level by learning about me.

What was your creative approach going into the album? Who are some of the producers and artists featured on the album?

My album is going to be very versatile. I have a little bit of everything on it. As far as producers I have my team of course Traxx 1st, Sev da Producer, Fantum and a few more in the works. As far as artist I have Lex a R&B artist from the group "Mr. Peterson"(UMA winners for best group '08) Cheszarae(female R&B artist) Carlos(MTB4) and a few more.

What is a Johnnie Floss performance like? What do the guests experience?

They experience energy and passion. I take my stage show very serious because a great song is not enough to me. Seeing me on stage is another way for you to connect with me so I have a lot of energy and emotion when I'm on stage and I'm also very animated.

What’s next on the agenda?

Just to keep grinding, making great music and working with artist or producers that I haven't yet. As well as features so just get at me because I have a few lined up already.

"Johnnie Floss on DreamBIgHustleHard.com"

Hey Johnnie Floss, thanks for the interview. For those who are new to the name let them know about the movement.

Well the movement starts with my company Traxx 1st Productions LLC, which is my team of producers and I’m their first artist.

Your a big punch line and metaphor type of emcee, and in todays music place there isnt much lyricism, do you feel as if you may eventually have to dumb down your words to get across to a larger audience?

No because people appreciate good music no matter how you present it to them and that’s one of the things that matters most in this industry.

Being from Brooklyn NY you have some big shoes to fill with BIG, Jay Z, Fab, Maino and the names go on...what do you take from the essence of BK and what do you want to bring to the new era of emcees from that area?

What I take from Brooklyn is lyricism. Artist from Brooklyn take pride in what they say so they always want to try to get better and better. I want to bring that same energy and flare, but explain it from my point of view.

Your also influenced by others artists like Ludacris and Eminem, what can you say is the most realistic reason and emcee can be influential in today's game?

Longevity because music is always changing. So if you can stay around for a long period of time other artists are going to want to follow your formula and to me that’s one of the biggest forms of influence.

You have opened for artists like Papoose, De La Soul and Joell Ortiz, I am assuming you have a tight stage show to be in that company. Describe what goes down when Johnnie Floss hits the stage?

When I hit the stage you feel the energy. No disrespect to artist that do this but with me there is no standing in one spot or muffled lyrics. You hear me clearly through the mic and you see I take pride in what I do from the moment my song starts.

You have a new album coming out entitled 'Flossin 24/7', whats the concept behind the album and what can listeners expect to experience?

Well I got the concept from HBO’s boxing show “24/7”. The show takes you behind the scenes and shows you how the two opponents prepare for one another and what their daily life is like. So you will get a chance to connect with me and also experience my versatility because I make music for everybody even though I’m a hip-hop artist.

Who are some of the features and producers you are working with on the project?

Of course my team Traxx 1st Productions, Sev da Producer, Bang ‘em Beats INC. and Brown Devil just to name a few.

You have also appeared on numerous mixtapes, whats the difference in creative approach when working on a mixtape vs an album?

Well mixtapes are for the streets so you want to have some type of hardcore music to present for that as opposed to your album where you can be a little more flexible and different with your song titles and concepts.

Whats next on Johnnie Floss's agenda?

Working with people that I haven’t worked with yet so get at me if you want to make magic happen.

"Johnnie Floss on HipHopRuckus.com"

Whats good Johnnie Floss? Let the readers know why your 'On Da Come Up'?

Well I'm 'On Da Come Up' because I make great music that you can relate to, I'm marketable yet different and above all I love Hip-Hop.

How did you get the name?

I got my name from one of my producers J.Dot. At first my name was Teflon John but he said my music doesn't fit that name. He told me to think about it and get back to him but I couldn't think of nothing. He said think of what your style is or what you represent so I said flashy or flossy things. With the combination of me never having a tag name he combined it and came up with Johnnie Floss.

When did you know hip hop was your calling?

In six grade my teacher gave the class a poetry assignment and mine turned out to be my first rhyme because I always used to listen to hip hop because of my father. He definitely taught me about old school hip hop.

How would you describe your sound?

My sound is very versatile because I like to make music for everybody. I also like to experiment with different sounds and concepts so it doesn't sound like your getting the same thing from me.

Lets talk about the influence BK has had on you. With artists like BIG, Jay Z and more, How important is it to you to rep your city and make your predecessors proud?'

Its extremely important because artists from BK don't give each other too much room for failure. We take pride in where we from so you have to be able to represent to the fullest.

Flossin 24/7' is the new album, when can we expect to get our hands on that and what do you want people to say after listening?

Well I'm aiming for the first quarter of 2010. I want people to connect with me and say you know what this guy is great at what he does. All I want to do is make great music and share it with the world.

You worked with a producer named Sev, who is well known on twitter, worldstar and the iStandard circuit. How did you guys link and what type of fire can we expect from the collab?

I run into Sev at almost every showcase I do but I never got a chance to talk to him. Finally during a borough tour we did we got a chance to talk and he sent me some tracks. He said whatever you pick just let me know and go in.

A lot of artists are trying to break into the game right now, how is Johnnie Floss strategically going to make his mark and why should consumers pay attention to your music?

I have a great team behind me that believes in me and they are going to make sure I make the right decisions and put me in the best situation for me and them. People should pay attention because I'm bringing lyricism, substance and flair to the game and I know people will respect that.

Whats next on the agenda?

Just to keep working hard and working with some of the hottest that's out there no matter what genre of music they do.

"Johnnie Floss on Hoodgrownonline.com"

Johnnie Floss, It's been a minute since we saw you last. What have you been up to?

Just working hard man. Trying to get to the next level.

Lets talk about the album 'Flossin 24/7', what was your creative approach like and what can listeners expect to experience?

My approach was to be as versatile as possible. I don't want to bore my listeners so when they hear that I have a new song dropping I want them to say I wonder what Floss is going to come up with next

How does this album differ from a mixtape and who are some of the producers and artists you have worked with on the project?

Its different from a mixtape because most mix tapes are street oriented. Doing an album is not that limited because you can be creative and open minded as possible. As far as producers I worked with my team of course, Sev Da Producer, Bang em Beats Inc and a few others in the works. As far as artist I have Lex(from the group "Mr Peterson" UMA's best group 08) ChesZarae(female R&B artist) Fantum(Bang em Beats) and a few others.

You have always been active on the NYC showcase circuit, what can people expect to experience at a Johnnie Floss performance?

You can expect energy along with me being animated because I try to bring my words to life while I'm on stage. I take a lot of pride in my stage performance and it shows.

You have also always been very lyrical. Do you feel that you have had to dumb down your abilities to fit in with current popular hip hop music?

Not at all because that's what I bring to the table. I'm not a fan of "dumbing" down because I take pride in what I say and I want you to feel me for it. There's nothing like a song that makes you say man that dude killed it or run that back did you hear what he said.

If you could collab with any one artist right now who would it be and why?

Jay-Z because I feel he's one of or if not the most talented hip-hop artist out there. Also he has influenced me in a lot of ways so I think a track with both of us on it would be great because when your around the best, the best comes out of you.

Whats next on the agenda?

Continuing to work hard, keep making great music and work with the best that's out there no matter the genre.

Bio

Most rappers these days claim to have a certain swag about them, something that makes them stand out from the rest. Maybe it’s star status, maybe it’s the fact that they light up a room when they enter capturing everyone’s attention while doing so. One rapper who has that certain kind of something is Brooklyn’s new favorite emcee, Johnnie Floss. Following the footsteps of some of BK’s finest like Jay Z, BIG and Fab, Johnnie Floss uses his witty wordplay and viscous punch lines to get your attention. Don’t get it confused though, although he is trying to rep for his city, Johnnie still maintains the ability to make universal records for the world to embrace.

Johnnie Floss states “I want to be the next best thing coming out Brooklyn. Even though dudes like B.I.G., Jay-Z, and Fabolous are tough acts to follow I’m up for the challenge”. With his new single ‘I Keep it Rocking’ of his highly anticipated album ‘Flossing 24/7’ will tell the tale of how this up and coming future star intends to shine in the rap game.

Armed with quick and precise lyrical assaults, the ability to rock a crowd at anytime and the presence he commands when he hits the stage there is no doubt that Johnnie Floss came here to play with the big boys. Brooklyn we in here!
