"Amazing from start to finish." - Brad Gunnarson- Midwest Movement.com
”The keyboards and acoustic guitars drift underneath the modern-rock structures of the songs, and both are complex and compelling" - http://www.adequacy.net
”When it comes to stripped down rock and roll that grabs with the music rather than the hype, Johnnyrook is one of the Twin Cities best…” - http://www.stthomas.edu/aquin
…”Now the use of piano in “today’s music” is a rare thing, on top of that a piece that was as well written as this one is a novelty. The quality of musicians on this recording is hard to come by. No one person stands out. It is close to impossible to find a band in which someone isn’t trying to show off. This song is flawless…” - http://www.Godsofmusic.com
…”A stirring and mature blend of emotional rock, Johnnyrook's acoustic tinged music is both charming and enlightening. Featuring members of Mercy's Own fame within their ranks, the group originally came to be in July of 2002, but their past experiences performing together definitely shine through. With their LP "it’s better this way" recorded and a slew of shows already played, the band look to be able to carve out a considerable audience for themselves if given the proper attention…” - theprp.com

Bio
Emotionally driven, lyrically compelling, melodious yet forcefully ethereal, Minneapolis, Minnesotas Johnnyrook encompass a very unique trait as a band and they have no plans on relinquishing it anytime soon. A shared love of the most technical, brutal metal and hardcore around, and yet a love for the simple, the soothing, the artistically refined jewels that exist from musics most subtle yet empowered songwriters. The thing that stands out about Johnnyrook is that they have the know how in order to mesh the two styles together without it sounding contrived or forced in any way. Johnnyrook, to put it most precisely, is acoustic metal, a commonplace for the two genres, which are polar opposites, to meet and effectively meld. Artists like Pete Yorn, Denali, Elbow, Sigur Ros and onelinedrawing all bear elements of a somber acoustic side. Where bands like the deftones, dead poetic, everytime I die, and Dillinger Escape Plan all deliver a dense metal cascade of chaos that infrequently lets up on the listener. While clutching acoustic guitars and delivering unforgettably beautiful vocal melodies that are reminiscent of the aforementioned somber acoustic artists, the energy, the intensity and the sheer volume to which these audible memoirs are displayed is a marvel in it of itself and truly innovative. Do yourself a favor and see Johnnyrook for yourself on select Midwestern dates of the 2004 Vans Warped Tour.
