I see writing songs as a way to clean out those thoughts that dog you when you’re by yourself, like asking the unanswerable why.
Sometimes people get pigeon holed and it can stick like a curse. When I see that sort of thing, I write about it. It may not change much, but it’s a small truth that needs a bit of light.
The way I see it is people are people no matter what their social or cultural backgrounds. Some are true to themselves and some aren’t. Some can’t see past their own hand tailored obsessions. Interesting stuff that can change on the drop of a dime – it’s usually kept in a safe place blanketed with a hefty dose of fear.
That is why I love horror flicks and use the macabre in some of my tunes to shake some comic relief into that dark side. A lot of folks comment on this - all I can say is it is not a bad thing to look into the dark side – it can reveal itself for what it actually is.
Music is an outlet for the listener and the musician.
The music that I create comes from my observations of the people and situations that have affected my day. It is that simple.
