Bio

When Johnny Sleep Dep (aka Terry Armour) was an infant, he would become irritable in music-free environments and chant "Mu! Mu!" until an adult threw on a tape or turned on the radio. He has since mastered speaking in full words, even sentences, but his obsession with music has, if anything, only become more severe.

In jr. high, Johnny discovered 80s synth pop and industrial/ebm, beginning his torrid love affair with electronic music. His horizons quickly broadened to encompass the whole gamut of computerized music, which came to be the main focus of his obsession by the time he attended his first raves at the turn of the century.

As interest in electronic dance music increased in his native Antigonihs, Johnny developed a reputation as the go-to guy for the freshest tunes, disseminating countless mix tapes and burnt cds to anyone who would listen to them, doing his damnedest to spread and popularize the music he loved. Learning to mix the tracks together was only the logical next step.

A few years later, the name Johnny Sleep Dep is instantly recognizable throughout the Maritimes. His signature blend of electro, progressive, techno, house and breakbeat sounds, his penchant for programming and his uncanny ability to read dancefloors have wowed crowds around Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI. He has held popular residencies at bars and afterhours in Antigonish and Halifax and played gigs ranging from high school dances to the Evolve Festival, where he played the infamous thunderstorm set last year (see attached video), widely regarded as one of the most positively magical electronic music experiences in recent Maritime memory (see attached "press reviews").

By the way, since press reviews are essentially unheard of for djs (in Nova Scotia, anyway), the "reviews" included are comments posted on youtube or facebook about the video in he media section.
