"JOHNNY VOLTIK REVIEW"

“I have been to a lot of shows, and have seen a lot of up-and-coming musicians perform. It is rare that a group wows you the way Johnny Voltik does, at first listen.??As soon as the group stepped on stage, their energy took over the room. Even though the crowd didn't know the words to their songs, every head was nodding and at the end of their set, when Johnny asked if we wanted more, the only answer anyone could consider, was yes.??Blending elements of rock, electro, hip-hop and reggae, Johnny Voltik's influences are present but don't overwhelm. They really "feel" their music and it is this sincerity that the crowd feeds off.  Their sound is fresh and days after seeing their show, I'm still excited about them.??In addition to being a music lover, I'm a freelance music writer and cannot emphasize the number of shows I've been to that underwhelm. Johnny Voltik however, is really in-tune with the crowd and knows how to take you where they want you to go. It's refreshing to experience a show where the musicians are still into what they do and for that alone, I would go out and see them again.”

Bio

JOHNNY VOLTIK, aka THE ALPHA LOVE enters the New York metropolis to emerge as one of the most innovative Hip Hop/Indie Rock artist of our time. While previewing tracks from his first full length solo installment "The Red Album," which is set to release 2012, he describes his sound as "rising out of the ashes of popular and under ground music. It is a blend of Hip Hop, dynamic indie rock and psychedelic R&B.

The singer/emcees style of rhyming can best be described as a hybrid of graffiti and calligraphy. As writer and producer of all his music, Johnny Voltiks sound has an eclectic mix; think Andre 300/Busta Rhymes/ Gnarl Barkley/Santigoldon acid. His onstage performance is truly a live spectacle. Accompanied with his live band The Mothership, Voltik wields energy unmatched by the average headliner. It is an experience that cant be missed

The artist first picked up a guitar at 8 years old; by age 13, young Voltik was battling other rappers in his hometown of Bridgeport CT. He recalls rapping over Jimi Hendrixs Spanish Castle Magic. Though being raised in the harsh realities of poverty, he was fortunate enough to attended Fairfield College Preparatory School where he studied Theatre arts. After graduation, Joshua Melvin (Johnny Voltik) found himself at Curry College in Ma. There he met fellow artist Amadeu Tolentino and the two formed a group with one other artist named Mike Henry called III Kings. Accompanied by live musicians Ben Wright, Mike Hermans, Cannon Deweese and Joshua Taylor, the band has plowed through the Boston music scene. Within the first 2 years, the group was nominated for two Boston Nemos Music Awards and was selling out shows. After a memorable 3- year run, the Hip-hop/afro-beat group disbanded and Joshua relocated to Brooklyn New York. He was in search of his own voice.

After years of anticipation, the artist re-invented himself as JOHNNY VOLTIK with a new sound and a new vision. Boldly crossing genres and breaking musical barriers, Johnny Voltik has become a ray of hope in a world clouded with musical redundancy.

Johnny Volitk has performed with N.E.R.D., BUSTA RYHMES, THE ROOTS, DAMIEN MARLEY, TALIB KWELI, SPEARHEAD, ISRAEL VIBRATION, BLACKMOON and many more.
