Signed to Columbia Records at the age of 19, John Parker Compton and his acoustic band Appaloosa,
co-founded with violinist extraordinaire Robin Batteau burst upon the music scene with their self-titled LP. Produced by legendary musician-producer Al Kooper the recording is still sought out 30 years later by adoring fans around the world. German music magazine Oldie-Markt calls this recording "...one of the most exceptional records in the broad area of Folk and Rock."

John Parker Compton has shared the stage with Van Morrison, Tim Hardin, Laura Nyro, John Hammond, The Allman Brothers, The Rascals.
