Biography

John Paul is a well rounded, Virginia based singer/songwriter with influences ranging from The Beatles and James Taylor to Matchbox 20 and Stone Temple Pilots. His lyrics are always from a real place within his heart, dealing with love and loss as well as the spiritual side of life. John Paul's vocals may be his best ability. A raspy, soulful tone that has been compared to some of the best artists, both past and present in the Rock genre. Lyrics

Another Second Chance

Written By: John Paul

(verse 1)- I wanna hear an angel sing, I wanna be the in between
I wanna know I’ll be ok, wanna love in a whole new way
I feel like something’s pulling me, my eyes are open but I can’t see
A foolish heart and a prideful mind, wanna leave that all behind me

(pre-chorus)- And you could show me how
And you could make me new again
‘cause I need to heal

(chorus)- I need another second chance so I can turn it around
Wanna live in the sky with my feet on the ground
Wanna love somebody like I’ve never known
I wanna give it all away when I’ve got something to give
Living for you gives me reason to live,
To place somebody else before myself

(verse 2)- I wanna be a better man, I wanna hold my father’s hand
I want the shame to leave me here, and all the hurt to disappear
I’m facing now the things I’ve done, from all of these I used to run
But I could never get away, never could embrace one day

(2nd pre-chorus)- And you could show me how
And you could make me new again
‘cause I’d love to heal

(chorus)

(bridge)- The love I’m building now makes me feel alright
the faith I walk in now makes me feel alright
the patience that you’ve shown me makes me feel alright
yeah, alright

(chorus)
*before myself, mmhm

I'll Be Alright

Written By: John Paul

I'll Be Alright.....Written and Performed by: John Paul
featuring: Jenny Leigh Obert (violin)

Another sleepless night after a broken hearted day
Does she reach for me
I wonder where you are and who is holding you tonight
Does he look like me

.....and time is the only thing that heals
this pain is all i feel but I don't mind
.....your face is haunting me again
so I will just pretend that I'll be alright

The same old radio and every heartache song I know
Do they get to you
And I've been driving this same road the last 15 yrs. but now
Well I've lost my way

......and time is the only.......................

Back To Me

Written By: John Paul

Back To Me- Written and Performed by: John Paul

Although I'd like to be your greatest opportunity, I know that you can see through me 'cause I can see through myself
Not willing to take a chance upon the feelings I've been hanging on, so once again just write a song and watch the world dance around me
.......maybe I'll wait forever
.....Just keep doing what I know
.....Maybe I'll stay here forever
Maybe I will scream out your name
Maybe I'll just cry like the rain
A tear for every word that I can't say
And it's enough to fill the room I'm in, not enough to bring you back to me again

A change I feel approaching me, but I'm afraid of things that I can't see
If I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be then why are you still in my head
I made a wish you know and it turned out bad
Another mistake, I'm used to that
One day I'll look back on all I had and wonder why I never showed you
...maybe I'll wait forever
...Just keep doing what I know
....Maybe I will stay here forever
Maybe I will scream out your name
Maybe I'll just cry like the rain
A tear for every word that I can't say
And it's enough to fill the room I'm in, not enough to bring you back to me again

Live A Lie

Written By: John Paul

Live A Lie - Written and Performed by: John Paul

The way she loves him
It makes him mad
and she's a fool to think that he has never been bad
Turn a new leaf over
Confessing sin
It's just a metaphor away from doing him in
....Well try and try but boy you'll never be that
....Because the man she loved has died and it's all so sad
....So here's your brand new start, take off and fly
....He said he'd rather live alone than live a lie

The romance ended
And no fire burns
How do you teach someone to love when you never learned
The wait is over
And he sits and stares
How can she keep him to herself when he's never been there
....Well try and try but boy you'll never......

Thank You

Written By: John Paul

Thank You.....Written and Performed by John Paul...jenny leigh obert(violin)

I think it's about time that I wrote you a line to say Thank You
You've been holding my hand even when I couldn't stand up and walk through
The mess that I've made of the life that you gave me, I love you
I was too blind to see it before
...and you've been planning this change in me
moving things around so that I could see
The good in my life(this world) that you do, as long as I remember each night to just say Thank You
Well I was sure you weren't there and why would you care for me anyway
And I would just lie awake and dwell on my mistakes 'til the next day
but then you whispered to me just be still and believe there's another way
So I followed you now I see
....You've been planning this change in me, moving things around so that I could see
The good in my life that you do, as long as I remember each night......
And I was sick of the crying caused by the lying, I was empty
And I was losing my soul, about to let go, then it hit me
...then you picked me back up and dusted me off...
(chorus)
I think it's about time that I wrote you a line to say Thank You
