Bio

A 10-year veteran of the Boston music scene,
John Polino has paid his dues, while earning the
respect of fellow musicians and critics alike.
Born and raised in Winthrop, Massachusetts, John,
a self taught musician, is undoubtedly influenced by
artists such as Aerosmith, James Taylor, Van Halen
and Billy Joel, which is clearly evident in the highly
personal material of his latest CD, "The Ties That
Bind". This eight song CD is packed with catchy
pop melodies, hard-driving rock guitars and
hook-laden choruses that will leave listeners with
a tune in their heads and lyrics to ponder. John
delivers his material with passion and sincerity.
"The Ties That Bind" contains autobiographical
stories of failed relationships, fatherhood and the
temptations faced by “working musicians".

Over the past ten years, John has played in a
number of bands, cutting his teeth in some of
New England's best clubs…and also some of the
worst. "I remember being offered a 12-pack of
Schlitz as pay for a 45 minute set." John recalls.
John continued to hone his skills as a guitarist and
songwriter by playing whenever and wherever he
could, "I used to get a bunch of guys together to
jam some cover tunes. We played in some pretty
strange places. A beauty salon. A church. Even
an old barn with no heat or air conditioning. I had
a pair of gloves with the fingers cut off so I could
get through those winter practices. Every night,
we'd have some friends come by and bring some
beers. It was like we were running our own club.
We'd recycle the empties to help pay for
microphones and stuff like that.”

In the year 2000, John's band, released their first
original CD, However, the band had opposing views
on which direction the music should go in, and
plans for a follow up CD were put on hold
indefinitely. As a result, in the early part on 2002,
John decided to strike out on his own and record a
collection of his own songs. Recording for "The Ties
That Bind" started in March of 2002 at Mixed
Emotions Studio's in Middleton, MA., and is
expected to be released to the public in the Spring
of 2003.
John has been keeping busy (and keeping his
chops up) by performing live every weekend with
one of Boston's most regarded cover bands,
Six Shot Brody (formerly Fat Tuesday).
John has been participating in various open-mic
nights in and around Boston, as well as, performing
unplugged shows. "Playing unplugged gives me a
chance to sing and play some songs that I don't
usually get to play with Six Shot Brody. I am able
to expose a different crowd to my songs, in the
way that they were created. Just me and my guitar."
