Biography

I was born and raised in Birmingham England where I went to the same school as Jeff Lynn of ELO fame, and was raised in the same neighborhood as Duran Duran and a short drive from Ozzy Osbourne - Black Sabbath. (I've done album photography for Bill Ward.) (Sabbath drummer.) I worked in Cabaret Theatre for many years - in charge of stage and lighting for artists such as - Three Degrees; Jack Jones; Dionne Warwick; Supremes; Buddy Rich; Rose Royce; Odyssey; Commodores; Osmonds; Dr Hook; Four Tops; Hollies; Sister Sledge; Martha Reeves - and many more. My first piano lessons were on the Theatre's Grand Piano on an empty stage, where I would drive the other staff crazy by practising scales for hours on end. I often had help from visiting MDs and artists such as Victor Borge. Before music took hold, my first writing success was short scripts and comedy sketches for TV and radio. As a songwriter, I have written with world famous percussionist Evelyn Glennie OBE. Also with John Hamilton (18 weeks in the charts.) Also with the superb Donna Britton - www.donnabritton.com I currently have a song on the latest Sham Rock CD, 'The Album'. Sham Rock had a massive chart hit with their song 'Tell Me Ma.' The album is produced by Grammy award winner, Philip Larson, (Kylie Minogue; Mary J Blige) and features songs by Tom Springfield and a spine tingling ballad by Paul McCartney. My song, 'Watch Me Now' is a rockin, foot stomping 'girl power' song that was originally written for a Whoopi Goldberg film, but was dropped at the eleventh hour for a Gospel song. I have also had 'near misses' with Celine Dion; & Jennifer Rush. I've been signed to: Warner Chappell; The International Music Network; MKM Germany, Faber Music, Strange Art Music; and others.

Lyrics

He Doesn't Know.

Written By: John A. Read

He doesn’t know what he does to me,
He doesn’t know.

Thinking about him all the time.
Every second of every minute of every day.
Remembering the thrill of being near to him.
And the pain that he brings.
So gently by his kindness.

He doesn’t know what he does to me,
Filling my heart full of love and pain.
Love and pain.
Tied up in knots at the thought of him,
Knowing all the time he just doesn’t feel the same.
He doesn’t feel the same.
He doesn’t know, he just doesn’t know.
I never said a word so how could he know.
How could he know.
He doesn’t know what he does to me,
Filling my heart full of love and pain.

Words wouldn’t come when I needed them.
He must have thought I didn’t care for him at all.
He’s everything in the world to me.
But I’m nothing to him.
Now he’s left with my heart and my soul.

He doesn’t know what he does to me.
Filling my heart full of love and pain.
Tied up in knots at the thought of him,
Knowing all the time he just doesn’t feel the same
He doesn’t know, he just doesn’t know.
I never said a word so how could he know,
How could he know,
He doesn’t know what he does to me.
Filling my heart full of love and pain.

You Don't Know Me

Written By: John Read & Stopher Secher.

I'm not the one you knew,
I've outgrown your heart, boy.
I'm moving on and up.
You'e not part of me.
Let me go.
It's time for me to fly.
Follow if you think you can.
But you may have to run,
Just to stay in my shade.
Boy.
That was then and this is now.
I've left that little girl behind.
You don't know me now.
Don't cry.
People rise and people fall.
Life moves on but not for all.
You don't know me now.
I've found my wings at last,
I'm a butterfly now.
You're still in your cocoon,
Looking on as I grow.
Look no more,
It's time for me to fly.
Follow if you think you can.
But you may have to run,
Just to stay in my shade.
Boy.
That was then and this is now.
I've left that little girl behind.
You don't know me now.
Don't cry.
People rise and people fall.
Life moves on but not for all.
You don't know me now.
Lovers come and lovers go.
Things have changed and now I know.
That your chains are broken and I'm free now.
Now our time has been and gone,
Now I know your not the one,
For Me.
