"Review of CD"

John Russo is a multi-talented singer/songwriter. I enjoyed listening to his CD, particularly the songs, "I'll Follow You", "Arise My Child", and "Come On With Me" just to name a few. The lyrics of the songs, combined with the music, provide inspiration, awareness, and joy. John Russo is a gifted writer/musician and is utilizing hids gifts abundantly - from Janet Bischer

""Come On With Me" -John Russo"

Indie artist John Russo brings a collection of eleven gentle folk-rockers to “Come On With Me.”
His gritty vocals, some pleasant harmonica and guitar work, and a bit of the topic matter give "Come On With Me" a nice old-school feel. The album contains a mix of straight up vertical worship tunes and others that personalize his message by relating it through various people: an old man, a young man, a girl who hides her face, or even the Apostle Peter. The dramatic ballad "Hearts Broken" stands out for its willingness to address the realities of the aging progress. Russo's vocals shine on this track, and cover the great lyric: "our desperation as we age, our fear is somehow mixed with rage."

The title track rocks slightly harder, and the background vocals add to its strong gospel feel, Russo's vocals standing out winningly. There's some nice guitar work throughout the project, several hot solos ("In God's Time" and "Shout Out Loud"), and the pretty picking on "Peter's Song," the luscious strings supporting Russo's gentle vocals beautifully. Will Sprawls' simmering keyboards glow from within the rock changes of "Put Your Faith in Him." The album closes powerfully with "Ready to Go Home," a quietly moving song commemorating 9/11, especially stirring considering that Russo is himself a New Yorker. All in all, a pleasant listening experience.

""Come On With Me" -CD by John Russo"

John Russo is a singer/songwriter and producer from New York. This, his second album, is a fine collection of songs that explore the interface between faith and life. Soulful vocals, fine musicians, arrangements that give the songs room to breathe; a style you might just call "singer/songwriter", an appeal that grows with repeated listens.

"Performing Songwriter"

It's rare that an indie artist achieves their goals and actually gets a CD out. it's even more rare for a self-produced indie CD to have great, or even decent quality. John Russo accomplishes both of these in his album "Come On With Me", a perfect blend of secular music with spiritual themes and vice-versa. John's performance is down- to- earth and unimposing throughout and it's so easy to simply play it while you sit and do something else, or just listen. John is an excellent artist and he performs beautifully. - itunes
