Biography

Although this may be the debut CD of the band SLEEZER, founder John Sleezer is a performance veteran who has truly lived a rock and roll lifestyle. John was raised playing polkas and waltzes on his accordion, but being exposed to the Beatles and then shipped off to military school in Tennessee changed that for good. Upon arrival, Sleezer soon joined the Drum and Bugle corps, where his penchant for beating on mom’s Tupperware was transformed by a learning experience that honed him into an impressive percussionist. But it was after military school, when John moved back home to Illinois and sold his accordion for an electric guitar that his rock and roll journey began.

From his first band, “Oz,” formed in the ‘70s, to his most recent CD, I Remember, John Sleezer’s rock journey reads like a classic Spinal Tap story of success in the face of travesty. Suffering through his studio burning down, and various bandmates retiring, dying, landing in jail, and falling off roofs, John has weathered many trials and tribulations over the years that have only served to mature his own songwriting, singing, and guitar playing.

Here on the impressive and rocking I Remember, John Sleezer (guitar/vocals) is joined by bandmates Jeff Wild (drums) and John Lessick (bass) to form a power trio that can crank out rock and roll originals with fiery abandon. With John’s gritty and expressive vocals and a classic rock instrumental sound, you may sometimes feel like you’re listening to Eddie Money fronting Van Halen.

But SLEEZER isn’t about making rock and roll just for the sake of stirring up some noise. Through the layered guitars and solid rhythm section, you’ll also find a cache of impressive songs about love and life on I Remember.

Please give our CD a listen and shoot us an email if you put it on the air or just want to get in touch. Thanks for giving new music a chance!

Can't wait to see you

Written By: John Sleezer

Now I can't wait to see you,
I wish you were here, I really miss you,
I need to have you with me all of the time,
At night when I can't see ya,
I want you to know how bad I need you,
To be with me, It's so lonely at night,
It's so damn hard to sleep without ya,
When I wake up I'm thinking about you,
I want you so bad baby, I wish you were here,

At night when we go out dancing,
You make me so proud to be with you,
There's nobody who makes me feel like you do,
I want all my friends to see ya, so everyone knows that you're my girl,
So come with me, I'll show you the world,

'Cause there's no one that compares to you,
And no one makes me feel like you do,
You're so beautiful baby, I wish you were here,
I need to make love to you,
I wish you were here,
I wish you were here,

Now I can't wait to see ya,
I wish you were here, I really miss you,
I need to have you with me all the time, yes I do,
At night when I can't see you,
I want you to know how bad I need you,
To be with me, It's so lonely at night,

It's so damn hard to sleep without ya,
When I wake up I think about ya,
There's no one that compares to you,
And no one makes me feel like you do,

I Have to Get Over You (You Have to Get Over Me)

Written By: John Sleezer

I tried to tell you long ago,
Some day you might wake up and feel the way I used to do,
Alone baby with you,
Things always had to go your way,
It didn't matter what I'd say,
You always had to win,
And I had to lose,

I have to get over you,
You have to get over me,
I can't go on loving you,
The way you think love should be,
I have to get over you,

How long,
How long,

How long did you think I'd go on,
I can't believe there's something wrong, here with this picture baby,
Why am I missing you,
You know I do,
It really hurts to say goodbye,
'Cause when I think of you and I and all the dreams we shared,
Oh baby I loved you,

I have to get over you,
You have to get over me,
I can't go on loving you,
The way you think love should be,
I have to get over you,
You have to get over me,
I can't go on loving you,
The way you think love should be,
I have to get over you,

I have to get over you,
You have to get over me,
I can't go on loving you,
The way you think love should be,
Oh I have to get over you,
So forget about me,
I can't go on loving you,
The way you think love should be,
I have to get over you,

You really took me by surprise,
When I saw you with him that night,
What were you thinking,
You always had to run the show,
I should of left you long ago,
But I believed in you,
'Cause baby I loved you,

I have to get over you,
You have to get over me,
I can't go on loving you,
The way you think love should be,
(Repeat)

Rockin Crazy

Written By: John Sleezer

I've made up my mind, no stopping us now,
Music's my life, I'm gonna make it somehow,
Should have listened to what I try to do,
'Cause rock ain't easy, that's why I'm rockin' for you,

I'd like to take you to my place,
At any time or anyplace,
I'm rocking crazy for you,
Crazy rockin',

Knowing my mind drives me insane,
We'll take it, It's been rockin' for days,
Should understand what I try to do,
Cause life ain't easy, That's why I'm rocking for you,
Rockin crazy,

I'd like to take you to my place,
At any time or anyplace,
I'm rockin' crazy for you,
Rockin' crazy,

I'm rockin' crazy for you,

I Remember

Written By: John Sleezer

Well I remember a long time ago,
You know it seems like a hundred years or so,
The things that we used to do,
The places that we used to go,
You know I can take it baby,
Don't you know,

It's so good to see you,
I can't wait to be with you all alone,

When you're away from me,
Oh what it's doing to me,
I can't keep you off of my mind,
I'm glad you're here with me,
It's our life what can we do,
When it's time for us to go,
If time is the answer,
Well then it's time for us to go,

It's so good to see you,
I can't wait to be with you all alone,

Well I remember a long time ago,
You know it seems like a hundred years or so,
The things that we used to do,
The places that we used to go,
Somehow we'll make it baby,
Don't you know,

Well I remember
I remember

I'll be gone tonight

Written By: John Sleezer

I don't know where I'm going,
I should have left a long long time ago,
But somehow I just kept hoping,
That things would change,
And we would stay together,

You pushed to the limits,
You left me with no choice, what could I do,
Stay there and keep on fighting,
Or move on and find somebody new,

I just can't take it,
No more,
I'm lucky just to be alive,
My heart can't take it,
'Cause you don't have to break it,
I'll be gone tonight,

I know it won't be easy,
Leaving is so hard for me to do,
We've been together for so long,
Life will never be the same without you,
You wouldn't listen to a word I was sayin',
I couldn't make you happy, you were always complaining,

What did you really think that I'm supposed to do,
Just stay there every night and day fighting with you,

I just can't take it,
No More,
It's time for me to say goodbye,
My heart can't take it,
So you don't have to break it,
'Cause I'll be gone tonight,
I'll be gone tonight,

I just can't take it,
No more,
It's time for me to say goodbye,
My heart can't take it,
So you don't have to break it,
I'll be gone tonight,

I'll be gone tonight
(Repeat)

You got me on the run

Written By: John Sleezer

You got me on the run,
I keep on running back to you,
You're making me crazy baby,
Why do I love you like I do,

I'm so tired of fighting,
And hearing about the things that you do,
So leave me alone, don't call me,
I need some time to get over you,

You changed me,
Rearranged me,
Brought me into you,
You broke me,
Then you choked me,
Slapped me away from you,

You got me on the run,
No more running back to you,
You're making me crazy baby,
But do I love you like I do,
After all we've been through,
And all the good times that we had,
Where did our love go,
I gave you everything I had,
What'd you do,

You changed me,
Rearranged me,
Brought me into you,
You broke me,
Then you choked me,
Slapped me away from you,

I cried,
You laughed and kicked me out the door,
You told me,
You didn't want to see me anymore,

You got me on the run,

You got me on the run,
(Repeat)
