John Smith Quintet

 Flemington, Victoria, AUS
BandRockFunk

John Smith Quintet (JSQ) hails from Melbourne Australia and have entertained audiences with their brand of grunge / rock / funk (Grunk).
Electrifying bass rhythms, sold drum beats and vocals builds JSQ as a Unique, powerful, entertaining, and a very enjoyable band to listen to and watch.

Biography

JSQ was formed in August 2007 and having gone through a few line up changes ends up with a very unique father / son line up on guitar and bass. JSQ creates a very unique sound which has influences from the 70's and 80's (Andrew) and the 90's and 00's (Chris). This gives the band a sound which would be reminiscent of early Chili peppers meets Audioslave and everything in between. Clare's vocals and lyrics sweetens the rough guitar sound to create a very listenable danceable and unique sound which we define as Grunk (our own Genre)

"...John Smith Quintet includes an invisible member as there are only four members in the band. Questions of sanity aside, this band doesn’t like to try and explain their music. 'We like to do our own thing,' says Chris Frangou, bass player of JSQ, 'I call it “grunk”...'"

Healing

(SOUL) HEALING
(Assetta, Frangou and Frangou)

VERSE 1
Stupid Choices
Dizzy games
My manic ego, needs a holiday
I took a train ride, through my brain
And now I know why I'm in sane!

PRE CHORUS
Trading places, foreign faces
Begging me to close my eyes
straight up outside, twisted inside
tomorrow's yesterday
Lying low, to and fro
slipping down the knots inside
Fingers clenched, blistering delight

CHORUS
I need that feeling, take me away
For soul healing
Well you can read it, my jaded face,
needs a little bit of soul healing

VERSE 2
Viscious senses, scattered light
Rolled into crossfire, thoughts ignite
I rode a donkey through my soul
And I fell through a jet black hole..

PRE CHORUS

CHORUS

Tram

Written By: Assetta / Frangou

Minding my business, passing time when she walked into my life
Messy black hair and heavy fringe, dark savvy asian eyes
Well she reached out her arm and the cuts up and down sad she'd given up loving life

CHORUS
Hey Maizee, you went crazy and you lost your way
But you gotta believe, that you'll see, the light of another day

VERSE 2
Her eyes darted sideways, connected with mine but just as quick they flicked away
Inside her soul I saw, so much pain, who let this little girl slip away?
And just like that she walked out of my life but I couldn't get her out of my mind

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Find a reason, don't stop believing, cos you are loved girl
Ahh love who you are, go find your star, gotta be strong girl...

CHORUS

ENDING
Hey Maizee, you went crazy
Go and get it girl...
Mmmmmm ahhh ahhh yeah....
