Bio

John is a native of Bridgeport, CT. He grew up listening to artists like Cat Stevens, Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young, Jim Croche, and The Beatles, and was later influenced by Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Elliott Smith, Richard Thomson and Neutral Milk Hotel. He began songwriting while at Carleton College in Northfield, MN, and continued writing in the years after college. He has spent the last 3 years crafting a sound that is entirely his own. His music has been described as soulful, honest, playful, and tormented. Listeners have also described his music in this way:

“John’s words tell a story of amour, affection, acceptance, and reflection. His rhythm, melody, and tone cause the listener to desire to be loved, to be held, to be kissed. His music has all the elements to strike at the hearts of alive souls.”

“John’s music breathes soulful poetry into etherial melody. Refreshingly innocent yet fervent and powerful, the experience of listening is wonderfully sensory.”

The band itself is comprised of some of the best players from around the area. John Pioli is an absolute cosmic force on the guitar. Hearing him play is enough to make most guitar players hang up their spurs. During our live performances, he takes up a prominent role. Scott Packham is the man on the synths and keyboards. An accomplished Jazz and Neo-Soul enthusiast, he is a real pleasure to watch. Kenny Owens is the best drummer John knows and integral to the sound. Rounding out the low end is Andrew Dapkin on bass. He is fantastic.
