I'm primarily a songwriter. I live and work in Nashville, Tennessee. I'm a member of ASCAP, NSAI and play frequently at area writer's nights including the Bluebird Cafe, The Commodore Lounge and Douglas Corner Bar. I placed a song in the top three in Billboard Magazine's 11th annual song contest.

Biography

On my own I'd answer the description of contemporary country in both the rockin' and singer/songwriter sense of the word. I'm influenced by many excellent writers and performers from Johnny Cash to Tom Waits.

ONE LANE BRIDGE

Written By: JOHN TRENTES (ASCAP) 615-337-0824

ONE LANE BRIDGE

I can't remember what we were fightin' about
As I wake up this morning on this old couch
I think I'll bring you a cup of coffee in bed
Just to see if we're talkin' yet...

It's like we're sittin' on both sides of a one lane bridge
Neither one of us willing to budge an inch
Baby you see things your way and I see them mine
No meetin' in the middle, and no compromise
But there's love and forgiveness on both sides
Of this one lane bridge

It doesn't matter who was wrong or right
This sleepless night made me swallow my pride
This angry river is keepin' us apart
With a bridge just wide enough for one heart

Chorus (repeat)

I'm crossin' over to your side
This time I promise I'll stay
Before this muddy water rises so high
That it washes our one lane bridge away

Chorus (repeat)

BOYFRIEND

Written By: JOHN TRENTES (ASCAP) 615-337-0824

BOYFRIEND

Hey miss beauty queen
Bet you don't remember me
I was the punch line in all your jokes
I spent last year walkin' home in tears
Just a skinny girl in a winter coat

Call it karma, call it fate
Call it payback, it's the same
Hey miss mean girl your turn to get flamed
I am back and look at how I've changed
You had fun at my expense
This is how that story ends
You can hold my books
While I kiss your boyfriend

My summer vacation
Transformation
Took me totally by surprise
I don't mean to hype it but I really like it
That's what I'm seein' in your boyfriend's eyes

Chorus (repeat)

I forgive you for bein' cruel
That's the story I'm stickin' to

Chorus (repeat)

STEEL MAGNOLIA

Written By: JOHN TRENTES/LOIS BERG (ASCAP)

Steel Magnolia

I'll bet you put the "Ho" in homewrecker
That man you're hangin' on belongs to me
Before I kick you in that label from some fancy designer
I'm gonna give you a clue or two
About my family tree

Mama was a steel magnolia
That's how she raised us all
She could shoot tequila
And a pretty mean game of eight ball
She was part Betty Crocker, a tattooed rocker
She'd could kick you out of this world
Mama was a steel magnolia
And honey, I'm a mama's girl

She warned me all about your kind of blossom
Spoiled since the day that you were born
Tryin' to take root in someone elses' garden
Well I'm a rose from head to toe
Baby I got thorns

Chorus (repeat)

A pretty little flower
Is what he sees
But let’s get real, honey
You’re just another weed

Chorus (repeat)
