Blending classic rock, folk and blues into an original indie rock sound, John Up Front hails from Minneapolis, MN. Started by singer Keith Hovis and guitarist Ryan Dixon, the duo started jamming in a condemned building before eventually convincing bassist Sam Worms, drummer Alex Erdman and singer Christian Barden that head in the dead of winter was a luxury and not a necessity for creating music.
Since then, John Up Front has continued to move up, now rehearsing in a heated psace and playing renowned local venues like the Fine Line and Amsterdam Bar. Their first album, Mistakes Were Made, was put out in October of 2011 and an EP will be released in the summer of 2012.
Inspired by great bands - but more importantly, incredible songwriters - like Radiohead, Josh Ritter, the Black Keys, The National and the Beatles, each member of John Up Front brings their own musical tastes to the group.
