"“These guys look rad,” exclaimed Jonny-Boy when we pulled into the dirt that surrounded The Good Times Lounge, one of three bars in Ft. Stockton, TX. He wasn’t talking about the locals. He was talking about the dudes of John Wayne Bro. Standing on the porch grinnin’ ear to ear. They stuck out dark and rowdy against the burnt Ft. Stockton skyline. Black shoes, black jeans, black jackets, black ties, black shades, black cigarettes. Party time." JamInTheVan.com

" true to the bone philosophy on the Golden Age of rock ’n’ roll—also known as the time when The Rolling Stones ran the world—translates to some of the better small venue live shows I have ever seen, with killer guitar solos and a gritty, whiskey-swilling mentality that has become an endangered style over the past few decades. In time, John Wayne Brø might help it make a comeback." - Black Book Magazine Online

Bio
It started innocently enough. A rusty typewriter, a collection of used books, a sailboat, and a rather large bag of psychedelics. On Halloween night 2010, Sam Levi and Taylor Bro, founding members of John Wayne Bro, set sail from the Port of Los Angeles in a small sailboat, never to return again. Or so they thought.
Having taken a heroic dose, the boys lost track of the shore. Seven days at sea followed.
Not much is known of what happened during their seven day stint on the Pacific. But, the real story began when Sam and Taylor washed up on the sand dehydrated, sunburnt, and determined. They had returned from the ocean changed -- they had gone into the unknown and did what very few men have done -- returned.
Clutching the remnants of lyrics and prose from the typewriter, Sam and Taylor rented out a hot, crowded rehearsal space overlooking Downtown Los Angeles and enlisted the help of Austin born lead guitarist, Justin Charbonnet, and Seattle refugee, Ryan Anderson, on bass.
Early in the process they decided that the band’s name should be John Wayne Bro. The name is an homage to Taylor's Great Grandfather, the renowned Swedish naval captain who was swept away at sea while serving in the Royal Swedish Navy, and whose real name was, in fact, John Wayne Bro.
The boys spent months creating their version of “American working man music.” Since their time lost at sea, John Wayne Bro has released the full length LP, "Man Of The People," and a subsequent EP, "Velociraptor." Currently they are working on a follow-up LP due out early '2013.
John Wayne Bro’s songs have been described as an evening where the Rolling Stones, Tom Waits and Howlin’ Wolf found themselves riding in a limo and were kidnapped by Gram Parson's and the Stooges, forced to take psychedelics, dance and play by the fireside for their amusement.
You can follow John Wayne Bro anywhere -- you can find them wherever the Internet is sold, at local and international shows, and in basement parties everywhere. They have been to the unknown and have returned to sing a song about it. - Wolfe Williamson
