Bio

LA native, John Wesley aka Wes, sprung from a childhood absent of catchy pop-music, and instead boasts exposure from the Gospel choir at his grandfather’s church – the only music his mom would let him listen to. Little did he know that such an upbringing would plant his roots firmly in a wide range of musical genres, thus creating his sound; Soul-Rock-Pop. His music garners unique, inspirational lyrics accompanied by emotionally, irresistible melodies that comb through his experiences with love and loss, fulfillment and failure, the good, the bad, and the worst. His rhythmic, soulful guitar styling invites one to enjoy the thrill of a man pursuing his heart’s desires and quantifying his life’s ambitions.

September 5, 2008, marked the release of his solo-acoustic EP Part 1 and the debut of his full band, The Dopeness (Tyrone Rudulph - Drums, Zach Rudulph - Bass Guitar, and Nathan Pratt - Lead Guitar and Keyboard) at M Bar - Hollywood. He performed to a packed-house of over 150 people, which was a true milestone in his evolving music career. The live event was professionally recorded and will be released in early October. In addition, the band will be hitting the studio this fall to begin recording a full-length album, which will be released early 2009 in conjunction with a regional promotional tour throughout California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Colorado, and Arizona.

He has established gigs at venues and colleges such as the M Bar (Hollywood), The Rainbow Room (Hollywood), The Roxy (Hollywood), The Mint (Los Angeles), The World Cafe (Santa Monica), BB Kings (University City, CA), Cal Lutheran University (Thousand Oaks, CA), Azusa Pacific University (Azusa, CA), and coordinated a Northwest tour of several coffeehouses throughout Northern California, Oregon and Washington. In addition, he recently performed for a Tom's Shoes charity event at Active Ride Shop in Westwood, CA where they sold over 200 pairs of shoes to be donated to children in need around the world.

Wes' EP release marks only the beginning of his life-long journey through the world of recorded music. He has always been and always will be a musician committed to the fruition of his dream – his love for music started at birth and will die when he’s dead. At present, Wes will continue to live out his dream by promoting his music throughout Southern California. All the while, he will focus on his growth as a singer, a writer, and an individual.
