"Nightlife Local Beats"

Featured in this space two years ago, The D.O.O.D. grew musically, shrank physically and rearranged its lineup. The former six-piece (now five) plays sans keyboards, clarifying a hefty two-guitar sound recently rounded-out by new man Renehan. Another solidifying element is a consistent foundation laid down by nine-month-member, drummer Jerry Sullivan (of now-defunct Mind Machine). Deana Lawrence (Deana Doll Designs Management Group) also aids the collective now. She garnered a spot for it on a RatPack Records compilation CD, for example, and snagged an opening spot for nationals Cold, thereby allowing members more creative time. Given that, The D.O.O.D.'s cranked for a new recording; it is scouting studios for a three-song EP release to coincide with a September showcase.

Quote: "We all know that there's problems in this world and we have to take care of it without taking, you know, a violent step," Stockton says. "And that's our idea of 'The Distinguished Order of Disobedience': distinguished people who take their stand against ... the wrongs of the world."

Bio

Established in Sarasota, FL in 2006 by vocalist Mike(Boxzilla)Stockton, guitarist Ray Gunderson, and bassist Jonzey, the DOOD have been building their name into the scene. After returning to the studio in June to write, they to released their first EP soon after and with the constant progression heard in their songwriting, the DOOD are sure to turn some heads. The unique sound the DOOD have acquired came from the different influences of rock/metal that each band member brings. The group will be touring the state extensively in 2009/10 and have shared the stages with the likes of Ankla, Pro-Pain, Neurotica, Ekotren, Bobaflex, Sudden Death, Hydrovibe, Crossbreed & COLD! Jonzey is sponsored by Daisy Rock Guitars.
