Five Songs You Gotta Hear for October 15 2009

“Caught In The Autoclave” by Jojeto
Alan get hundreds and hundreds of discs and mp3 files from bands saying “please play my song on the radio
show”. Seriously. Hundred and hundreds.
So what he does is gather up the best of the bunch, post ‘em in a blog and lets you tell him what you think. If the
reaction is good enough, he gives ‘em a slot on the radio show.
That’s what happened with these guys. They’re from Toronto. They’re called “Jojeto” and they got a big thumbs up
from everyone who went through the blog. So we gotta give them some attention. Their song is "Caught In The
Autoclave". They’ve got an EP that’s out now.

"Jojeto Explores Musical Success"

Jojeto explores musical success

Nikki Lockington - A&E Editor

The music scene in Hamilton and surrounding areas is very much a part of the growing trend toward independent, close-knit artists. A local band called Jojeto, which consists of guitarist Tony, bassist Jeff, drummer Jordan and vocalist Lance, creates unique music for their growing and dedicated fan base. “I think the Hamilton music scene is great, said frontman Lance Bezusko. “It’s a lot better than a lot of other music scenes, even Toronto. He said it’s supposed to be “hip and cool but it’s not as closely knit as the Hamilton music scene. “It’s a little bit more pretentious whereas I find with Hamilton what you see is what you get, Bezusko added.

Although their sound is unique, Bezusko said he has heard certain aspects of their music being compared to bands like Muse, Mars Volta, Incubus and Red Hot Chili Peppers. But, as he explained, each member of the band has different musical influences that have helped shape the sounds of Jojeto. “[My] influences are completely different from Jordan [the drummer]. Jordan is heavily into jazz and he’s into old funk records and jazz pianists and stuff like that, whereas I’m more into classic rock and folkier sounding stuff, Bezusko said. “Jeff the bass player is kind of a punk-funk guy and the lead guitarist Tony is more of a metal head than us. For an up-and-coming band, one of the keys to success is exposure. As a result of persistence and fan support, Jojeto received a coveted spot on Alan Cross’ Explore Music Show. After the band members sent a number of E-mails to him, he told them he would post a link to their music and see how the fans reacted.

The result was an awesome show of support from their fans. “We couldn’t believe people were writing stuff, we thought everything was just going to go by the wayside and nothing was going to happen. We couldn’t believe that people felt that strongly about the music we were making, explained Bezusko. “Because there was a big enough response, Alan Cross noticed it and then he asked us for a high-quality version of a song, so we gave him the title track to our EP, Caught in the Autoclave, and then that ended up getting played on the Explore Music Show. For a band on the rise, they are still being asked the simple – but ‘infamous’ as Bezusko called it – question: Where does the name Jojeto come from? “There are many tales out there but the true story is that when I wasn’t in the band, they had recorded a demo live off the floor in the basement, said Bezusko. He said that nobody knew what to write on the recorded tape and Jeff unknowingly wrote the first two letters of each of the band members’ names on it. “Jordan, Jeff and Tony – and Jojeto just kind of stuck and everyone knew us as that, he said. Jojeto will be playing on December 2 at Bluemoon Lounge in Burlington and at El Mocambo in Toronto on December 4. - The Satellite Newspaper

JOJETO is budding into the Toronto music scene. Drawing larger crowds and continually growing their fan base these guys have been rocking venues such as The Mod Club, The Horseshoe Tavern, The Rivoli, The El Mocambo, and The Opera House.
Developing a reputation for their energetic and audience-participation live shows, JOJETO are hooking their crowds with memorable melodies and moving them with pulsing drumbeats.
Pleasing a variety of crowds, the boys blend catchy sing-a-longs with raw indie rock. They had a great success with their release show for their new EP 'Chinatown' at the Mod Club in September 2012 and packed the Rivoli in December.
They are getting ready to hit Ontario and Quebec this year with shows lined up in London, Ottawa and Montreal and CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK in Toronto.

"If there is one band that you should see right now, it is Jojeto. Jojeto's raw energy and modern sounds make them a force to be reckoned with on the Toronto scene. Swimming vocals and intricate rhythms make their live show electric. They have been honing their craft and are ready to take on the world."
