BandRockPop

Sydney based rock/pop band mixing the sounds and production of The Killers and Snow Patrol with the style of the 70's singer/songwriter movement! Think Brian Wilson/Harry Chapin hanging out with Brian Eno?

Biography

Hailing from Sydney comes a fresh sound and approach to Songwriting….. Jolan

This independant alternative/rock 5-piece released their self-funded independant EP “Lost in song” in 2008 to some great reviews and pretty decent record sales (we think anyway)

3 weeks into the release they were selected as “Australian Myspace Artist of the Week” which had them featured on the main myspace home page, and also the Australian section of myspace. It resulted in over 4000 hits in 3 days, and a total of 80,000 to date.

Taking influence for their sounds and production from the likes of The Killers, U2, Radiohead, Coldplay and Snow Patrol they combine it with a songwriting influence of Harry Chapin, Lobo, Brian Wilson and other 70's singer/songwriters.

Think Billy Joel hanging out with Brian Eno?

Having recently completed a 10 track album at the beautiful 301 Studios in Sydney Jolan are preparing for their 2011 release with the aid of their manager Stuart Coupe.

Aiming to deliver passionate, intelligent lyrics with strong melody & atmosphere, Jolan are a band worth keeping your eyes (and ears) on.

Lyrics

Falling Apart

Written By: Reese Szabo

Your bleeding heart, gives you no need to confess.
You made a mess, with all of the things, that you said.
The room feels cold, these walls are naked once more.
Your on the floor, hopin the roof, will fall...

And it all, crashes down as you cry.
'Til your tears run dry...

I know that your falling apart.
When you try, to hide a broken heart.
I'll come through, in the end, for you....

You sleep alone, the silence wakes you up.
You interrupt, the dark of the night, with your bedroom light.

And it all, crashes down as you cry.
'Til your tears run dry...

I know that your falling apart.
When you try, to hide a broken heart.
I know that you eyes will open wide.
When you see, that it's me by your side.
I'll come through, in the end, for you....

I swear...I'm there
I swear...I'm there

I know that your falling apart.
When you try, to hide a broken heart.
I know that you eyes will open wide.
When you see, that it's me by your side.
I'll come through, in the end, for you....

Signs

Written By: Reese Szabo

I know that this is right and that you think it's wrong
I know that you believe I might be hanging on
But everyone has got to have an open mind
To find

The thing that you believe is gonna make you stay
When everything you love well it could fall away
But I have taken time just to think things through
Like you

And as I walk into the midday sun
Up ahead are all the things that we might become

And in our darkest day we can only follow these signs
And in our coldest night we can only follow these lines
And tho there's much to be found in this beating heart of mine
In our darkest day we can only follow these signs

There's nothing here to stop us but the things we make
You stumble on the truth and it is hard to take
But somewhere there's an answer that I'm searching for
And more

And as I walk into the midday sun
Up ahead are all the things that we might become

And in our darkest day we can only follow these signs
And in our coldest night we can only follow these lines
And tho there's much to be found in this beating heart of mine
In our darkest day we can only follow these signs

And behind it all
There is so much more
Then the things you see
In me

And in our darkest day we can only follow these signs
And in our coldest night we can only follow these lines
And tho there's much to be found in this beating heart of mine
In our darkest day we can only follow these signs
In our darkest day we can only follow these signs

I know that this is right and that you think it's wrong
I know that you believe I might be hanging on
