Tell Me I'm Pretty

Written By: Jolene Pollard

from album: A Pocket of Songs, 2009
recorded by: Steve Manhattan @ hotgirlsonaspaceshiprecords

Tell me I'm pretty, tell me I'm loved.
Tell me I'm beautiful like the stars.
Ask me what I like to do, tell me you like that, too.
And we'll do all the loving we can do.

Tell me I'm pretty, you tell me I'm yours.
You tell me I'm everything you thought you lost.
Well, if you're looking for me to fill a void in you,
Well, Lover, I've got news for you...

You tell me you're different, well to me you're the same.
See, you're still placing all the blame.
Now Baby, you might be confused 'cause I'm leaving you.
But I think it's time you go on and find somebody new.

'Cause if it's ever gonna be, it's gotta happen naturally,
'Cause I'm not working this hard this soon.
Love should be easy to do.

He'll tell me I'm natural, make me feel pure.
He'll tell me I'm real, like our love.
We'll start it out with honesty: show me the true him, I'll show him me.
We're gonna try to go on and find what we've got deep in our souls.

'Cause, Baby, love should be easy to feel if it's ever gonna be real.
So, I'm gonna try to go on and find what I've got in my soul.

Future

Written By: Jolene Pollard

recorded at Nimbus School of Recording Arts, Vancouver, B.C., 2011

Future, future, taking the fall and loving it all.
But you found me, Love, where I don't want to be,
you found me in a place I'm not ready for love.

Future, future, maybe you'll follow me there.
And you'll find me, Love, and I'll be ready to be,
you'll find me in a place I'll be ready for love.

Future, future, the truth is you'll find I don't know where or who I'll be.
But today I feel, Love, what I'm feeling now.
I feel love and the future is now, Baby.

Future, taking the fall and loving it all.
'Cause you found me, Love, and that's all there is!
You found me, Love...and the future is now.

Maroon Cotton

Written By: Jolene Pollard

from album: A Pocket of Songs
recorded by: Steve Manhattan @ hotgirlsonaspaceshiprecords

Maroon cotton lay over your skin,
wish I could feel what it's feeling.

We're both moving at exasperating speeds through the universe.
Our molecules colliding, creating both our symphonies of frequencies.

Slip your toesies right under me,
and I'll keep you warm again and warm again.

Now, we're both sharing this patch of oxygen,
So I'll inhale you before you evaporate.
Your smell is one that I have never smelled before:
Intoxicating intoxicated me.

...Molecules, share your molecules with me... maybe?

So, if you'll fancy another cup of tea, I'll keep you warm again and warm again.

Lullaby

Written By: Jolene Pollard

from album: A Pocket of Songs, 2009
recorded by: Steve Manhattan @ hotgirlsonaspaceshiprecords

Rest your eyes, rest your mind: calm you'll be.
Close your eyes, close your mind but be open to me.

The lights on the ceiling we'll silence this evening.
'Cause it's just you and me, just you just me and I'll take care of you. Sleep.

Lalala. Lalala. Lalala. Lalala. Lullaby.

Let's go to the country, where we'll lay in a field of dark on the ground.
And we'll watch all the stars, and the stars will watch us: us admiring in awe.

Can you hear the steps of the centipede?
Can you hear the sound of the grass growing?
Can you feel the moonlight move across your face?
Can you feel my heart as it pulsates?

Lalala. Lalala. Lalala. Lalala. Lullaby.

Rest your eyes, rest your mind: calm you'll be.
Close your mind, close your mind but be open to me.
