Jolisas Story
Jolisa Singletary was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She began singing at age 11 in her fathers ministry and soon realized that her life would be dedicated to glorifying God through song. Her music career started as early as high school. It was at McDonogh 35 Senior High School that most of her dreams came true as a young singer. In High School, she was able to showcase her talent as an active soloist in the gospel choir, as well as the drama club. After this, Jolisa continued her pursuit of music at Dillard University, where she majored in Business Management and Music. Thereafter she received her Masters in Vocal Performance at Louisiana State University. While at Dillard, she had the opportunity to tour various parts of the U.S with the Dillard University concert choir and also gain more experience as a singer.
While studying at LSU, she was able to branch off into classical music and build her skills and versatility. During that time, she was also encouraged to become a recording artist and to work on her own music as a Contemporary Christian artist. Presently, she teaches music at Brownsfields Elementary and is a local gospel artist in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As a gospel artist she has successfully completed a CD entitled Random Thoughts and is heavily involved in her community. Her future goals are to receive a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance and to change the lives of many through her music and love for God.
