Bio

Jo McCafferty is a singer/songwriter from Aberdeen, Scotland. . She has supported many acts of various genres and enjoys an increasing fanbase every time she plays.

Jo recorded her first album Nothing Whispered to Katy in Mill Studios, engineered by Mike Allan and Niall Mathewson. Jo then fronted band Arnica who were highly placed in 'In The City', leading to a considerable amount of record company interest. Arnica sadly decided to call it a day before taking advantage of the offers.

After a long gap while Jo attended University and gained a geology degree, Radiaxial was released in 2001 engineered by Grant Milne (Jeff Buckley, Karen Matheson, Capercaille). Radiaxial was another acoustic album, and a more grown up version of Jo was beginning to shine through. Radiaxial continues to sell well; over 1000 copies sold despite only being available at gigs and on the internet.

Jo continued to gig her own music in and around Aberdeen whilst finishing her degree. Teaming up with an extra guitarist, Blair Cunningham, Jo supported Marillion in Sheffield, the H Band on their European Tour, John Young from the Bonnie Tyler Band and the Scorpions, Glenn Tilbrook and also played in the Barrowlands at the Frankie Miller Tribute alongside Joe Walsh and many of Scotland's biggest names. In 2003 Jo stopped working with Blair as his work commitments prevented him from touring, and went on to support John Young, Midge Ure, Donnie Munro and Fish. Whilst playing the Paradiso in Amsterdam, Fabchannel filmed Jo for their website.

More recently, Jo released 8 Year Gap, an album of some of the songs written between NWTK and Radiaxial. Released to whet the appetites of Jo's fans while she made sketches for the fully produced EP Games for One, 8 Year Gap is a collection of demos recorded in her bedroom. Both 8 Year Gap and Games for One are now sold out.

Papercuts and Lime was recorded at Ça Va Studio in Glasgow. It includes many of the songs Jo has written and played live since the release of Radiaxial and is another acoustic album which has received much acclaim since its release. Following this album Jo did a small tour in the States, taking in Georgia and North Carolina.

Her most recent release is Live at the Moorings (2005), recorded at her gig in November 2004 at the Moorings Bar, Aberdeen by Mark Thomas and is a fun collection of live, drunken songs and also includes five bonus tracks taken from the Games for One EP.

In 2005, Jo supported Midge Ure on his UK tour and also a one-off gig with Amanda Palmer from the Dresden Dolls.

Jo's next release titled Overtaking on a Bend is being recorded 2005-6, and a longer US tour is being planned for March 2006. All of Jo's music is released via her website, through her own label 'Neosome Music'.
