Bio

BIOGRAPHY JONAS TOMALTY
Born in Montreal in 1979, Jonas Tomalty has been firmly rooted on the Quebec music scene for a long time. The young prodigy, rocked by dad's blues melodies throughout childhood, has been singing since he was three. After traveling with a choir during his teenage years, he founded an alternative rock band, Rubberman, with which he won the 1999 edition of L'Esprit CHOM FM music contest. His incredible musical talent got him his first recording contract with Aquarius Records. The self-titled album was released in 2001 and the first single, More than I can chew, on January 24 of the same year.
But Jonas' path has been more than fulfilling. Along with his rock career, he has been performing with Jonas & The Blues Blooded on the blues scene since 1998 and performed at numerous events. His charisma and tremendous scenic energy had him booked as opening performer for famous blues bands such as Sass Jordan, The Jeff Healey Band, the Holmes Brothers and The Jim Zeller Band, which drove him to master his art at such a young age.
In 1999, Jonas was invited at the Montreal International Jazz Fest where he gave an astonishing performance in front of a delirious audience... that was there again to acclaim his powerful magnetism in 2001 when he returned to the Jazz Fest on the outside Labbatt Blues stage. The following years made him gain more and more fans as he gave electrifying performances on all the main scenes. He blew the crowds at the Edge Fest and at the opening of the Grey Cup Week-End Events and gave boiling hot shows at the Fringe Fest as well as Metropolis. After flirting for years with blues and rock, Jonas has made the whole music industry fall under his charms: in Fall 2003, his blues band wins the LYS Blues Award for best new artist.
At last! Jonas' first solo album on the DKDD label is currently in progress and will be out everywhere in Spring 2004. Produced by Dale Panner (famous for his powerful work with Nickelback and Holy McNarland), the album includes songs written by many prestigious and successful collaborators such as Desmond Child, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. To do justice to the work of all these great artists as well as to Jonas' and Diabo's own creations, the young author is surrounded by a trio of excellent musicians: long-time partner virtuoso guitar player Corey Diabo, of course; super talented base player Dominique Romanelli and internationally renowned drummer Ange E. Curcio, who also played with Jon Bon Jovi, Aldo Nova, Corey Hart, Garou, Éric Lapointe and many others.
Jonas is that fiber that giants are made of. His voice, ripe and deep, mastered with an astonishing precision, seduces the ear with its raging yet suave tones. But the artist's strength remains his enormous musical instinct that makes him know how to reach the senses as well as the soul.
Jonas has found his path. Follow his route...!
