Bio

In 2003, while attending the University of Georgia in Athens as an undergraduate art student, Jonathan Aseron (already head deep in Kid A, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots) began to write music. Using an 8-track, guitar, and synthesizer, he started to record guitar-based pop in his bedroom. Under the moniker Cheeto FOol, Jonathan dropped his first single that year, "Cheeto FOol (the song)" - a subtle mix of drum machine and hauntingly indecipherable vocals. With additional vocal harmonies by then unknown Shigmaster 17, "Cheeto FOol (the song)" was a critical success and immediately dubbed an instant underground classic. Overwhelmed by such ovation, Jonathan fled to the nearby countryside to search for a deeper meaning in life...and music. Finding inspiration in a dried rivulet, he decided to hone his pop sensibility with a critical eye and ear towards song-craft. After a brief stint in Brooklyn, N.Y., Jonathan moved to Austin, TX in 2006 to pursue an M.F.A. at the University of Texas. While in school, he joined Joseph Winchester and Amelia Winger-Bearskin to form the band, Paper Landscapes. Paper Landscapes played a few shows around Austin before dismantling in 2008. Since graduating in May 2009, Jonathan has devoted much of his current time to gardening and recording Cheeto FOol's anticipated full-length debut.
