Jonathan Ferguson

With thought provoking lyrics, catchy melodies, and a guitar style all his own, folk-rock singer/songwriter Jonathan Ferguson is on his way to establishing himself as one of Canada’s most promising emerging talents.

When people listen to his songs, they can’t help but hear undeniably human stories, full of detail and emotion. But like many songwriters in the genre before him, Ferguson’s songs are rarely about himself.

“Folk-rock music is about the people,” he says, “The best songs, to me, are the ones that everyone can hear a little bit of themselves in.”

Complimenting the writing is a percussive, half picking, half strumming guitar style, which is exciting both to hear and to watch.

“I can’t really explain it—I was breaking too many strings and I needed to put a stop to that!” Ferguson jokes.

On stage, Jonathan Ferguson carries himself with a boy-next-door demeanor, full of humor and stories, with an intimate connection to his audience, regardless of background or age.
