As a product of his foreign upbringing, South Central Los Angeles native jonBANGS homogenizes sounds of psychedelic alternative rock, hip hop, trap and pop. Fan of many musical genres, he coins his style as “reality lyrics”... stating that “if I haven’t experienced it, it can’t be said”. In early 2013, the rapper born Jonathan Shaun Bangs started recording songs while attending California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles County. After years of experimenting with the craft, his musical sound has shifted into a complete representation of himself. Songs like #pinkyring, @haileybaldwin, and #seveneleven aren’t just singles overwrought with manly bravado; these lyrics paint a visual as if each song was a soundtrack for a new coming of age film. The discography may classify as hip hop but the records are bonafide pop anthems, destined to be echoed at festivals for years to come.
