Jon Boi

Originating from Killeen, Tx, Raymond Goosby b,k,a, Jon Boi began pursuing the art of music at a young age. Jon Boi wanted to express his musical creations and talents for others to appreciate, just as others had done before him; he quickly got to work. While in the midst of his newly found music career, tragedy stuck around him, which lead to the incarceration of his younger brother(Jonathan). The name Jon Boi was then created as a symbol of his brother serving a 50 year prison term. Jon keeps his sense of humor as well as the reality of it all when he laughs out-loud to recall; “Knowing at the time, I wasn't real big on getting tattoos, so, I decided to represent him (my brother) through my music, hence the name, Jon Boi.”
His style of music varies, it’s versatile, and carries visual messages to the listeners. It’s said to be a pleasurable venom. The way Jon Boi approaches one track may not be the same style or subject content displayed on the next. He is considered to be a classic example of a professional music engineer. Jon Boi is a perfectionist to a fault, exceeding in song writing and priding himself on being a self motivator. Unique qualities such as his array of vocabulary and word play proves he is destined to be one of the greatest underground lyricist to date!
When it comes to defining the (Jon Boi) swag it would have to include the words humble, grounded, logic and realistic. He defines leadership and dedication to the love of music, his craft and skills. Jon Boi is self-disciplined while still being a major team player. You may find him in the back ground taking notes during a show, moving units(Cds) with a fully organized promotional team, or just relating with other music artists. Jon Boi’s versatility and hunger for knowledge may be accustomed to his enjoyment of all aspects of the music genres. He’s quoted to having said, “When I perform I realize that ENERGY plays a major part in crowd participation, so you had better believe that if I’m in your town, the stage will definitely get rocked!”
In 2006 Underground Legends (A local talent event/Organized by Chariese Da Boss), began a new path in Jon Boi’s performing career. Since then he has performed well over 100 shows in various venues from Texas to Atlanta. He has opened for major artists, such as Genuwine, Trae Da Truth (Houston), Charlie Boy, Big Tuck, G-Spot, silk(R&B), and many others.
With many projects in the works Jon Boi pays tribute to his Mixtape Season One Series. “Season One took me a full year to complete and when it was released It immediately received outstanding reviews.” He grins. But it doesn’t stop there, it's successfully trailed by Mixtape Season 2, a project which allows him to open up and be more of himself. Season Two consists of 23 mind blowing, entertaining, on the edge of your seat tracks. There is something on it for everyone, dance tracks for the ladies, and everyday reality. It’s what many have been dying to hear!!!!!
