The best kept secret in music

"Area vocalist add local flavor to blues festival"

I enjoyed Jim tatum's review of the Carolina Downhome Blues Festival, but I can't believe he ignored one of the better venues. Rusty Davis and Friends was one of the top three.
Jon Bolin, who also played at Rusty's was superb. As one fellow next to me kept saying over nad over, "He's got the gift!" Jon's finger picking is to die for. - Nick Trice

One in every crowd

Feeling a bit camera shy

Jon Bolin has relentlessly studied, practiced and performed the Blues for the last several years. The influences and nurturing of his style has come from such masters as Son House, Robert Johnson, John Hammond, Rory Block and Eric Clapton.
Jon has performed in clubs, coffee houses and outdoor acoustic and blues festivals. His travels have taken him from Upstate New York, the Deep South to the bay area of San Francisco with many places inbetween. With his acoustic, national steel guitars and harmonica Jon performs cover tunes, collaborted covers in his own style and orginial folk and blues music. While in California Jon was fortunate to become a member of the West Coast Songwriting Association in which he was able to learn songwriting fundamental knowledge from respected songwriters as Carol McComb and Steve Seskin. While in the southern Indiana area Jon was also fortunate to learn jazz styles and techniques from respected Jazz musician/instructor Barney Quick.
