Bio

Texan's are know to be straight shooters, so here's the straight shootin' truth:

I was born in Dallas Texas February 3, 1959. I am the son of baptist missionaries to Japan. I lived there from ages six to eleven. Much of my life and music has been deeply influenced by those years. At age thirteen I picked up a guitar for the first time and played it until my fingers bled. I met my wife Diana Jo Korioth in 1979 while playing in a band together. Diana Jo is also a fine singer/songwriter. In 2004 and 2006, I was one of ten finalist at the Wildflower Arts and Music Festival singer/songwriter competition. In 2006 we released our first CD called "New Moon Rising". I have spent most of my life since then in the Dallas area. Making a living; making kids; making music; making life.

My music has been influenced by gospel, folk and rock-n-roll with a little bit of country mixed in.

Here's my exact musical influences in order of appearance:
- Tom Burleson (my dad)
- Johnny Cash
- Bob Dylan
- Peter, Paul and Mary
- The Mamas and the Papas,
- The Beatles (like everyone else),
- The Monkeys - still like those Monkeys, I wanted to be Davy
- Glen Campbell
- My brother-in-law Alan Sanders who taught me how to play the guitar.
- A Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young "Deja-Vu" 8 track that I wore out.
- Neil Young
- B.W. Stevenson
- A CCR album that I stole from my sister.
- Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride" clear red 45.
- Jim Croce
- James Taylor's "Sweet Baby James" and everything after that ...
- Lynard Skynard - this is about a rebellious as i got.
- Kansas
- Bob Bennett's "First Things First" and everything after that...
- Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer - Dave was an amazing songwriter.

Pretentious third person biography with big words coming soon ...
