"Jon Dope – ‘Black Girl’"

Houston MC, Jon Dope, just released his first solo effort titled, DOG DAYZ. The album was written in it’s entirety while Jon was undergoing chemotherapy, but the new healthy Jon gives us a track that most can relate to, “Black Girl”.

Bio

Dwelling from the oversaturated depths of syrupy hell, at 19 I bring you Jon Dope. But the folks at the chicken shack call him Jonny.
Born at the top of the 90’s he was exsposed to rap,(also drifted towards aletrnative rock but only to come running back to hip-hop.) Early influences were MF Doom, Big boi,Z-ro, and Public Enemy.
He began rapping feeling a need to express himself freely about the things going on around him, that people in mainstream media continue to ignore. But unwilling to compromise with the flashy material that everyone is used to,his voice was muted.Continuing to write extensivly throughout High School Doe began to lose focus on his rap career and find trouble. That’s when his whole life would change. Following his May 2010 release from the Atascocita state Jail, Jonny was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer.
Fast forward a few months into the present and he still standing, and still spitting cornbread crumbs on every microphone he comes across.Dope sounds like a someone being eaten up by the real world. But this young man has been there, seen that and done that. The subject matter is key as he touches on different life related issues like prostitution, unemployement, drug abuse, and poverty. Instrumentation is also a plus almost every track sounds like a Sunday afternoon following church with Mama frying porkchops listening to Majic 102.
