Bio

The Jon Frederik band is an acoustic-driven pop/rock band based out of Boston, Ma. After forming in March of 2003, the band quickly began arranging the large catalog of songs that Jon had previously been performing in a solo/acoustic setting. In April 03’, a month after the bands first rehearsal, a demo disc (known to many as the “Orange Disc”) was released. The disc contained two full-band studio demos as well as five songs that we’re recorded live in a studio sound-booth in downtown Boston. After selling several thousand copies, the “Orange Disc” was taken out of print to make way for the debut full-length record entitled “Life in Progress”.

In July of 2003, at four months old, the band signed a production/development deal with Sheppard Music Inc out of New York City. Later that month, the band recorded four songs with Sheppard and Kenny Gioa at their studio in Manhattan. In 2004, the band found itself back in New York City to record the remainder of their debut release. The entire 11-song album was recorded and mixed in less than two weeks and released through the Sheppard Music Inc label in partenership with DKE Records, a division of Doyle Kos Entertainment with distribution through Red Music. The album is available through several online stores, including: www.jonfrederikband.com and the Jon Frederik Band's official merch and ticketing site, www.newhipstereo.com. It will also be available in select stores nation-wide in Sept 04.

A true independent act, the Jon Frederik Band currently handles all booking/web/art/promo/press themselves in-house. Throughout 03’ and 04’ the band toured the East Coast extensively making stops everywhere and anywhere. From legendary folk venues such as Eddies Attic in Atlanta Georgia to thriving rock clubs like Boston’s Middle East and New York Cities CBGB’s, the band prides itself on delivering a high energy-unique performance regardless of the setting. Just over a year old, the Jon Frederik Band has already toured and revisited venues in: New York, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Connecticut, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Along with playing the club circuit along the East Coast, the band has been establishing a strong presence on numerous college campuses through their anytime/anywhere booking policy (an inquiry-based website feature that allows frats/dorm ra’s/student activities boards/etc to book the band for everything from the spring fling concerts to an intimate performance in a dorm common room. The band believes that no performance is too big or too small and encourages fans of the music to book them for campus events of any kind.

With the release of the debut album, “Life in Progress”, the Jon Frederik Band affirms their stance as one of the most engaging bands to hit the underground music scene in a long time. With an album full of hooks, heart, and humor; and a passionate energetic live show, the band continues to thrive and grow quicker than they could have ever imagined.

In August of 2004 the bands track, “All of The Things You Said”, was featured in the Warner Brothers animated motion picture "Yigioh: The Movie". The film debuted on August 13th of 2004 and the soundtrack to the movie, released worldwide on RCA Records in August of 04’, features the track.

It took less than a year for the Jon Frederik Band to: sign a production/development deal with Sheppard Music, tour the East Coast extensively, be featured on a worldwide major label soundtrack, and release a full length debut album. All this without the support of a manager, major record label, booking agent, or webmaster.

The band plans to tour throughout 04’-05’ in support of, “Life in Progress”, hitting up the East Coast, West Coast and Canada.

It’s exciting to watch a band that’s growing quickly and creating original-refreshing music. This is where the JFB is at now. They are glad to be able to grow with the fans and take their time doing things the right way at all costs. The Jon Frederik Band will continue working hard to produce the soundtrack to everything they experience in day-to-day life.
