Two Questions

Written By: Jon-Mikel Woody

I started out it seemed so clear, give my life for something more, but the wise and the sage have been replaced, by the fool at the corner store

So my heart did change, my pursuits became, of all I could obtain, for life it seems, is meant to be, lived for the coin and green

Yet in my mind, from time to time, two questions still remain

If I love you more, will you love me less, for this I cannot do, will you wipe my tears as I confess, I'm nothing without you

The years they passed, the children came, rest now the work can wait, still thirst and pain, they did not wane, that hunger still remained

So on I searched, it must be there, found in silver and in wine, til I awoke and they were gone, I missed it all the while

Yet in my mind, from time to time, two questions still remain

If I love you more, will you love me less, for this I cannot do, will you wipe my tears as I confess, I'm nothing without

Time and age have drawn these lines in my face,
Time and age have left me stranded in this place,
Will I ever find my way back to truth,
Will I realize that it all leads to you

In the early dawn, I struggled on, count the wages I had paid, I’d gained it all, yet lost it all, there is no higher cost

Yet in my mind from time to time, two questions still remain

Witness

Can I have this day
Can I have this day
Forget about tomorrow
Yesterday and all its sorrow
Can I have this day

Woke up at the age of 5, got a pocketful of promise but nobody to drive, dead tired 'cause you work all the time, guess I'll have to find someone who can make me alive

Fifteen and you say I do, watch another little man make a fool out of you, this one seemed to make you blue, first one nearly broke you in two

Can I have this day
Can I have this day
Forget about tomorrow
Yesterday and all its sorrow
Can I have this day

Eighteen and I'm out the door, gotta find somebody I've been waiting for, realize the cards are the same, stacked against me in a crooked game

Twenty-two I found someone new, broken damage always leads to you, piece of the puzzle in the fold, greatest story ever told

Can I have this day
Can I have this day
Forget about tomorrow
Yesterday and all its sorrow
Can I have this day

Gonna be alright, with you
