Bio

From the intimate settings of clubs to the roaring crowds of arenas, Jonni Lightfoot continues to push the boundaries of bass playing. He has released three solo records and has received numerous awards for his bass playing, including Most Innovative New Artist in 1996 for use of the piccolo bass. Jonni is an artist and clinician for Zon Guitars, GK Bass Amps and DigiTech/HardWire Effects pedals, and he is the bass player and recording engineer for the ‘80s super-group Air Supply.

Jonni’s CD, “Blu,” features Grammy-nominated bass legend Michael Manring and multiple Grammy winner Graham Russell. Bass legends Michael Manring, Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke, Billy Sheehan, Jaco Pastorius and the late Wayman Tisdale continue to influence Jonni’s playing.

Jonni joined Air Supply in 2001 and quickly became the bandleader and recording engineer. He has worked on nine of Air Supply’s/Graham Russell’s CDs, including Air Supply’s newest release, “Mumbo Jumbo,” which includes the songs “Mumbo Jumbo” and “Alternate Ending,” which Russell and Lightfoot co-wrote.

In 2005 Jonni played on Air Supply’s “It Was 30 Years Ago Today” Live CD/DVD. The record went gold in Australia and has reached platinum status throughout other regions of the world. Jonni has recorded two other solo CDs—”Copper Street Fair” and “Pendulum.” In 2008 he teamed up with Tony Harnell of TNT and joined the band Starbreaker. They recorded the very well-received record “Love’s Dying Wish” on Frontiers Records.

While Jonni continues to tour with Air Supply he still focuses on his own recordings and continues to pursue his musical attributes—soul, diversity, fun and lots of energy. He is currently recording his forthcoming CD, which will feature his piccolo bass playing as the centerpiece to what are sure to become classic songs.
