""I adore them...""

"I just listened to the tracks you put in your SonicBids EPK... "Lately" is such a badass track, I adore it. Reminds me a lot of Belle and Sebastian."

""Can't Get 'Em Outta My Head!""

"His smooth vocals combined with decorative guitar playing make for songs that you'll want to hear over and over. You really can`t get 'em out of your head!"

Eddie D -
Waterloo Review - Waterloo Review

""The Critics are Raving...""

"Jonny's choice in timbre and harmonic motion are remeniscent of the arioso style found in the late baroque era. His modal shifts from Ionian to Hypo-Locrian leave the listener with a sense of rapture not unlike that found in the works of Telleman and Schumann."

JP Dupont -
Two time winner of the Doris Jackson award for really great taste in music

Bio

Originally born in Niagara, Jonathan grew up in an environment of music, surrounded by family who played instruments and friends who would regularly visit to jam. By the age of 12 he had leaned to play drums, piano and guitar, and by 14 he was writing songs and performing in his high school production of Grease!

Seeking creativity and inspiration, Jon relocated to the west coast after high school, landing gigs in Banff, Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria, Tofino, where he developed his unique pop friendly style of high energy acoustic music and thoughtful ballads. He pulled inspiration from living and loving on his own terms, reminiscent of songwriters from the Beatles to Coldplay. His music is always characterized by his unmistakable voice and well-crafted lyrics and catchy hooks and today his repetoir of original music includes over 100 outstanding songs. Highlights include performances at the Fernie Folk Festival, the Victoria Folk Festival and the Banff Center for the Arts.

He returned to Niagara and dedicated himself to the local music scene there, starting his own company, Eruption Productions. Numerous successful events included food-drives and fundraisers. In the summer of 2000, he accepted a high-profile gig at the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino Niagara as the musical director and performed hundreds of shows in front of thousands of toursists.

Most recently Jonathan has relocated to Toronto to make the most of the opportunities for artists in Canada’s Cultural Capital. Here he hopes to offer his skills as a versatile songwriter and dynamic performer. His next goal is bring his high-energy performances to the Ontario Festival Circuit as he did out West and focus more on the up and coming Ontario Folk Music Scene as a cross-over new-folk/pop artist. He recently completed a professionally recorded EP of his best music which can be heard by downloading songs like "Even If" or "Lately" which illustrate his abilty to tell tales through music that will inspire.

When performing, Jonathan uses his alter-ego Jonny Mc-G (mick-jee) a nickname his friends gave him in high-school. Some of those friends are now a part of his band which features outstanding musicians he has known for years. His shows demonstrate why he is known not just as a great songwriter, but a truly entertaining performer.

His releases include most recently "Romance for Sale" (EP, 2004), "No Surprise" (EP, 2001) and "Guess That's How it Goes" (EP, 1999) as well as singles "Outta My Head" (2000) and "American Pretend"(2002). He hopes to perform this summer around the GTA and in some of Ontario’s Folk Festivals.

Stay tuned for more outstanding music and performances from this talented and unique composer!
