Jon Tomlinson is a songwriter, pianist, and guitarist of undeniable talent. His music is quirky, bittersweet, hilarious, wistful, and sometimes all of the above. His most recent musical endeavors offers serious musicianship in a folk/rock style combined with jazz and reggea infused jams.

Biography

Aside from perfoming in the Reggae community for over ten years sharing stages with artist such as Burning Spear, Ziggy Marley, Toots and Maytals and Lauren Hill, Jon has received a Masters degree in Composition from NYU, and has enjoyed playing venues throughout New York City and Southern California. His music has been heard on many an independent radio station through the U.S. In 1998 Jon "Good Morning Jamaica" Television program and with IRIE FM, Jamaica's premeire radio station.

Born and raised in Long Beach California Jon has taken part many musical endeavors the included members of Sublime, Long Beach Dub All-Stars, Ikie Owens (The Mars Volta) Arrons Owens (Hepcat), LMNO (Up Above Recods), Mike Long (Capital I), Scotty Daddy (Chapter 11), and Olando Greenfield (Havolina Rail Co.) Since being in New York Jon has worked with professional jazz artist such as Tal Ronen, Mark Lau, and Tom Jennings.

Jon brings an intense and polished energy along side his tasteful lyrical writing keeping the traditional flavors of artist such as Paul Simom, and The Grateful Dead. His performances are always tenderd with an amazing line-up, and polished and professional stage presence.

Set List

Sets are usually tailored to the event. Seletions include songs of "Rosa and the Mustard Man". At times Jon enjoys a jam to take over. Covers can range from a tender Allison Krouse selection featuring Bonne Kramer, to a healthy classic like Brown Eyed Woman, or Bob Marley's, "Keep on Moving. There's really no telling what will happen, only that it will be good.
