Bio
Like the sound of a turntable needle slowly setting into the groove of one of his
favorite classic records, Jordan Miller touches that “sweet spot” emotion in his
songs. Being raised around early Sunday morning banjo riffs from his grandfather,
Jordan favored to the authentic sound of country and bluegrass music. “Blue
Moon of Kentucky, Dueling Banjos, and of course Foggy Mountain Breakdown
would all be ringing from my grandparent’s bedroom just about every Sunday
morning before we’d leave for church. My grandfather knew every note to a T.
He never sang much, but he didn’t need to. You could make out the song from his
playing.” Early times like these seemed to have made quite the impact on Jordan’s
musical interests.
Shortly after picking up the guitar in high school, he began putting words to a
melody. “I remember watching a Neil Young interview when he was discussing
his songwriting tendencies. ‘Don’t chase the rabbit out the hole,’ is what he said. I
try to write by that saying. If the muse shows up, I’ll write something, but I’m not
going to force it.” After high school Jordan began playing open mics around
Tallahassee and the surrounding areas, while continuing to write songs.
Within a few years Jordan had played most local venues and gained quite the
following in the process. Jordan was invited to play in the 1st annual Island
Hopper Songwriters Festival in Fort Myers, Florida in 2014, where he performed
amongst other artists and songwriters such as, Kristian Bush (Sugarland),
Thompson Square, Dylan Altman (Tim McGraw, Jake Owen, Jason Aldean) Gary
Hannan (Joe Nichols, Montgomery Gentry) and Billy Montana (Lee Brice, Garth
Brooks, Sara Evans) to name a few. Jordan has also played in the 1st annual
FloGrown festival accompanying the Brandan James Band on guitar, opening for
acts such as Lockhart and Colt Ford.
Up until early 2016, Jordan had been playing solo and placing most of his efforts
behind the scenes songwriting in search of a publishing deal and getting songs cut
by other artists. After being introduced to a local drummer Chris Slagle and bassist
Keith Whitfield, Jordan had made the decision to start pushing his own songs by
the only person who knew them best. Himself. “I remember Chris and I became
friends and I would just come over to his house during the week. We’d BBQ, have
some beers, and play some music. Every now and again this guy Keith would
show up and just hang with us. Keith played a little guitar, but he wasn’t boastful
with it. At one point I just asked him if he’d be interested in playing bass. He said
yes and that was that.”
Jordan is currently in the process of recording a debut album and has already
released the first single music video for his song, “Whiskey.” Be sure to follow
Jordan on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for all updates along his musica journey.
