Bio
My Name is Jordan Tarrant by: Jordan Tarrant
My name is Jordan Tarrant and I am a songwriter from Texas. My dad played guitar when I was growing up so, naturally, I do too. I have always enjoyed writing songs, playing guitar, and singing my guts out. I have had several forms of musical training throughout my brief time here on this planet. At age 12, I began with guitar lessons focusing on soloing in the style of rock/blues. As a freshman in high school I began classical guitar instruction with Dr. Klondike Steadman of University of Texas. I studied classical guitar for 4 years.
When I was 16, a sophomore in high school, I played on a Christmas compilation album entitled “Austin Double-Wide Christmas”. The album was released by Texas independent label Cardinal Zen which later became Tono Music Group. I am currently represented by Tono Music Group and am working on my second EP with them.
Since I have been here at Berklee, I have put a lot of time into performing. I have played an organizational role in the Monkey Rock community. Monkey Rock is a community comprised of artists and friends who support each other by promoting and performing live music and live art. Monkey Rock hosts a weekly ‘Writer’s Circle’ at All Asia (332 Mass. Ave, Cambridge, MA) from 6-9pm on Wednesdays where members and friends of the Monkey Rock, Berklee, and Greater Boston communities come to listen and play. In the summer of 2008 I went on the first Monkey rock Tour of the greater U.S. The Tour consisted of 22 dates from May 14th to June 21st. Johnny Nicholson and Nathan Reich were the other two artists on the tour.
Right now my life consists of going to school and writing and recording songs and playing as many gigs as possible. It’s a good life.
“In the local youth music scene, Jordan Tarrant is one of the bright hopes for the Austin music future. He has demonstrated a unique gift for music at an early age, and should develop into a top artist in the near future.”
Louis Meyers, former executive producer of the Austin Music Network
“[Jordan Tarrant is] an up-and-coming young gun with bucket-loads of soul.”
Norman Eugene Brown, CardinalZen Records
“Jordan is one of those rare students who has a natural affinity for the guitar and music. His ability to pull music out of his guitar is seldom seen in a person of his age and experience.”
Gene Raymond, Octave Higher Studios
