"Best New CD - by Bob Bender **"

The 14 cuts on Jorie's CD allows us the unique opportunity to visit this fine young lady's gift of music. Having grown up in Bakersfield, California, I definitely knew what California Country was all about. Jorie sounded as though she had grown up in the San Joaquin Valley herself, where the influence of The Raye Sisters, Smokin' Armadillos, and Bonnie Owens held reign over everybody for years. By the time you get to "A Man's Mind" and take the time to listen to the lyrics, she convinces you that she knows everything there is to understand about relationships, or lack thereof. The production on "Old Guitar" is subtle enough to allow Ms. Raine's voice to stand out and flow freely without breaking or cracking. She definitely has the power and capacity to belt out a tune, but instead takes the path of quality over quantity and brings a soulfulness. Take the time to visit her website (www.jorieraine.com) and get to know her. Then when you get the chance, sit down and listen to one of the finer Country albums I've heard in a long time!

Bio

I'm a native of Boston, MA where I spent quite a bit of time learning the craft and business of songwriting. I was a member of the Boston Songwriters Workshop and studied at Berklee. Since I've moved to LA a few years ago I've been working on a professional music career. (bio below)

Jorie grew up in a big family (3 brothers and 3 sisters) in Brockton, a small town in Massachusetts. She began learning to play and write when her family won a piano in a raffle when Jorie was only ten years old. After high school she attended the Berkley School of Music to further hone her already impressive songwriting skills, and later studied at the Boston Songwriters workshop. Her first break came when she played some of her music for her dentist who was so impressed he offered to finance a set of recording sessions.

With those demo recordings in hand Jorie moved to Los Angeles where her extraordinary talent, combined with her striking appearance and powerful stage presence, quickly garnered her the industry attention needed to set the wheels of her career in motion. With the release of her debut CD California Country Jorie seems destined for great things. The first single, Old Guitar is in rotation on hundreds of radio stations across the country and has entered two national charts at number 19 (Indie Country top 50) and number 23 (Christian Country, top 100).

Jories voice is soft yet strong. There is also a deep spirituality within her music that speaks to the values and concerns that underlie everyday life. Backed by an incredible group of musicians and recorded with top-notch production values, her CD is being embraced by both fans an industry insiders who are hungry for sincere music from a true artist.
