Bio

Frontman Joseph King began his musical career while a Religious Studies major at Stanford University and went on to spend 6 years as the songwriter and frontman of Austin-based cult favorites Canvas.

In October of 2005, he relocated to New York City where he began writing down-tempo rock/pop with dub and electronica undercurrents. Teaming up with bassist/keyboardist Sanjay Jain, drummer Alex Wong, and guitarist Mo Bhansali, the band's sound is derived from a myriad of influences ranging from Manu Chao to Morphine, and Quentin Tarantino soundtracks to Buckley.

The combined quartet brings a powerful mix of heavily drawn influences that span not only multiple artists, but different ethnicities as well. Live, the energy in the room is nothing short of contagious; with heavily effected drums and an array of eerie homegrown electronica sounds. The end result is a sound that is introspective, sensual, melodic, and pallatable by music fans of all genres.

The band has been playing aggresive dates in New York, filling club capacities to the brim. After a successful run at South by Southwest 2007 and an opportunity to play at the venerated 930 Club in Washington DC, the band looks forward to the release of its debut Wicked Woman EP in summer 2007 featuring guest artists that include members of both David Byrne and Brazilian Girls.

Debut EP Belle Epoch has been produced by noted producer Chris Coady (Massive Attack, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Blonde Redhead).
