Joseph Nadeau

Joseph Nadeau

BandRockSinger/Songwriter

To combine simple catchy melodies prevalent in today's music industry, with deeper blues and folk inspired lyrics. Ideally keeping the production as raw as possible.

Biography

After taking the last five years off to get a degree in filmmaking at RIT, Joe is back in the studio working on his first full length studio album, American Cocktail. To be released sometime in spring 2008, American Cocktail will combine catchy melodies and hooks with classic rock music and a hint of folk inspired lyrics. Much of the last few years has been spent listening to the great musicians roaming the Irish pubs in Massachusetts, and the influence is likely to be noticable. But it is a welcome change, bringing more depth to the lyrics and tension to the melodies. In the meantime, please enjoy a few of the songs off of his 2004 effort with Outside The Lines.
"The more honest the music is, the stronger it is."

Lyrics

When I Wake Up In The Morning

Written By: Joseph Nadeau

When I wake up in the morning
I feel the sun come in
Can’t believe the world’s still turning
Around the current state it’s in
Don’t believe it’s fate
When I wake up in the morning

When I get the morning paper
I tune in on page one
They say the world’s still burning
They say it’s just begun
Don’t believe it’s hate
When I wake up in the morning
Don’t believe I’ve changed
When I lie down for the night

And for all the times we've woke from dreaming
To hear the cries and people screaming
Or do we only reach out for a friend?
And if we’re unified 'cuz someone lied
Then all those knots have come untied
And all of us will lose out in the end
Yeah...

When I wake up in the morning
I see the sun go down
But they say the new day’s coming
They say it has been found
Don’t believe it’s fate
When I wake up in the morning
Don’t believe I’ve changed
When I lie down for the night

[Chorus]

So people rise and wake from dreaming
To hear the cries and people screaming
Extend a hand and reach out for a friend
And we'll be unified and if we try
Than with a little luck we might survive
And all of us will be there in the end
Yeah, When I wake up in the morning

Someone's God

Written By: Joseph Nadeau

Old man, tired man
Crippled with his cane in hand
Look down on the people
Holding up their hands
His three son's, old enough
To have learned from all the blood
But look down on the people
Dividing up the land

Don't blink so fast
Another day has come to pass
We're all dreaming of tomorrow at last
But with everybody living for today
Tomorrow's fading fast
Won't someone's God
Someone's God please save us?

A good man, loyal man
Does everything a father can
Looks down on the people
Tearing up the land
Hired he works for the three
So he can feed his family
But looks down on the people
Holding out their hands

[Chorus]

If you can't feel the storm
Than listen for the rain
If you can't feel the scorn enough
To want to take another's pain
And as time reaps it's harvest
Each day another fallen grain
Won't someone's God
Someone's God please save us

East Coast

Written By: Joseph Nadeau

Can you smell the salt in the air?
It’s started a mile back there
Feel the sun at my back
Wind in my hair

Gulls have the wind on their tails
Ships catch the freedom in their sails
It’s a rich man’s credit card in a poor man’s pail
The sky reveals the paths we’re all choosing
Did you know that Bobby loves Susan?

Take a walk down the east coast
Watch the sun come up
And the marshmallows roast by the bay
Casting lines can you catch the words they say?
And it reminds me of a simpler time
When we weren’t hanging onto
Our last piece of mind
By a telephone line

And now the phones have less chords
Yet it seems we're talking more
Like the Sirens are singing in the connection board
But here the people are laughing and cruising
Making up the time they’ve been loosing

[Chorus]

And when I'm in this place
It’s the closest I've come to amazing grace
It’s the hope that’s inside
Your inner child's still alive
It's anything and everything you’ve ever had to hide
Just bottle up your fears
And watch it disappear with the tide

[Chorus]

Look Out My Window (Mary Anne)

Written By: Joseph Nadeau

The lights rise silently on the stage tonight
Her nervousness catches all of the wandering eyes
She's ready to take on the world
Get her name on the entrance list
And you can read it on her face a new sparkling glint
Cuz she's waiting
She's been waiting

Look out my window Mary Anne
It's cracked but it ain't broke
Look out my window before you go

Well she's got an island now
Surrounded by the sounds of the sea
And she's watching waves crawl slowly across the beach
But as clouds turn into white walls closing in
And sand becomes tile beneath her feet
She looks around and screams
This ain't the life for me

Look out my window Mary Anne
It's cracked but it ain't broke
Look out my window before you go
Look out my window Mary Anne
It's cracked but it ain't broke
Look out my window and you will know
And you will know
And you will know
