Bio

The jazz band Xavier Dotras Trio releases its new album, Preludes, a tribute to the creative freedom of the classical composers. The fourth work of the group appears after the excellent reception of their previous album “Vincent”, which has given them the opportunity to perform at many venues throughout the world, including major jazz and music festivals.

The Xavier Dotras Trio is a jazz band from Barcelona formed in 2004 by the pianist Xavier Dotras, together with César Martínez on the drums and Toni Pujol on the double bass.

The style of the band is personal and has drawn its influences from classical and Mediterranean music to bossa nova and flamenco. The band has also been inspired by pianists like Bill Evans, Michel Petrucciani, Enrico Pieranunzi o Brad Mehldau.

The Xavier Dotras Trio has recorded the albums Retrospectives (PAE-2004), Nit (PICAP-2006), Vincent (PICAP-2009) and Preludes (PICAP-2011), which featured musicians such as the famous saxophonist Gorka Benítez, the well known singer Carme Canela, and the guitarist Joan Abril amongst others.

The Xavier Dotras Trio has performed at some of Spain’s most renowned concert halls and jazz festivals. Also the Trio has an international reputation and has performed concerts at Jazz Club Soho in London and featured as part of the Bath Music Festival, which was broadcasted by the BBC.

The tour Vincent has led the band over the past two years to many venues throughout the world such as Midem (Cannes), the Bath Music (Great Britain), the San Miguel Mas i Mas (Barcelona), the Alcudia Jazz (Balearic Islands), the Viriato Nights (Zamora) or the Jazz in the Province (Sevilla). This album's tour ended with an emotional performance at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
