"Josh and JB, defying 'Gravity'"

BY GEORGE VARGA

JB (left) and Josh Welch, who are 20 and 16, respectively, credit blink-182, Guns N’ Roses and Guitar Hero as key musical inspirations. Their debut album is due out in December on their own Junior Records label.

BUDDING POP STARS: Josh & JB Welch

TV SERIES: “Josh & JB in the Industry” (reruns begin airing Nov. 7 at 7 a.m. on Colours TV and on the Dish Network channels 9396 and 9407)

WEB SITE: joshandjb.com

NEXT PERFORMANCE: Nov. 11 at 3 p.m., Jamul Intermediate School Soccer Field

KEY COMMENT: Josh: “Music is everything. It's a way to express yourself in a way you can't with words. JB: “Music can change someone's life. It has that power.”

If the music world is looking for a young band to bridge the gap between the Jonas Brothers and blink-182, Jamul siblings Josh & JB Welch are ready to go.

“We don’t really compare ourselves to anybody, but the Jonas Brothers are an inspiration for how they can grab a crowd,” said JB, 20, who took up guitar in middle school after playing along to a Guns N’ Roses song on Guitar Hero.

“The Jonas Brothers are real performers,” added bassist Josh, 16, whose own epiphany came when he heard blink’s “All the Small Things” in seventh grade.

“But our music isn’t like the Jonas Brothers,’ ” JB (short for John Bronson) stressed. “Our music is for all teenagers; their’s is just for little girls.”

The three Jonas Brothers might take that last comment as fighting words. But they’d be wise not to challenge Josh or JB, who have both earned black belts in taekwondo.

The singing brothers live in Jamul with their mother and father, Linda and John Welch, their sister Courtney, 12, and their grandparents on their mom’s side. However, unlike the Jonas Brothers, who released several albums and were certified teen-pop sensations before they struck a deal last year to star in a TV series for Disney, Josh and JB didn’t waste time getting on the air. - San Diego Union Tribune

Bio

Recording Artists Josh and JB Welch got launched in music with their hit reality TV show "Josh and JB in the Industry" which now airs wordwide ( visit www.joshandjb.com for airing in your area).

Born and raised in Jamul, a rural and spectacular region of rolling hills 20 miles east of downtown San Diego, California brothers Josh and JB Welch make up this talented young group. Josh & JB are from a multi-racial background and come from a strong musical heritage. Theatre and dance experience for Josh and JB stemmed at an early age from when their family opened a San Diego based theatre and dance group called "Applause Theatre," where both JB and Josh stepped onto the stage for live performances in plays like "Rumors" and "Our Town" and performed with the La Jolla Stage Company in "Amadeus." Since then Josh & JB have both been under the acting guidance of Hollywood, Broadway directors and great choreographers. JB is currently in his second year of college. He began playing the piano at a young age and as he became older grew a passion for playing the guitar. Josh is currently in the 10th grade and the younger of the two. They recall it as if it were just yesterday when he and his brother came up with the idea of starting the label and now it has actually become a reality. "I want to send the message across to all the young kids to go ahead and pursue their dream . . . just do it! Will is power!" Their music has a unique sound with a mixture of pop and rock. Both Josh and JB agree, growing up in Jamul has been a great experience."We love Jamul and we love the freedom that our experience here has created for us both artistically and to have the dream to launch a project all over the world" stated JB Welch
