Bio

Texas Rock and Roll with Soul: that’s the mantra of the Josh Davis Band. Together they are restlessly honing a live sound of true rock and roll; infectious rhythms and warm, tube-amp driven riffs in the tradition of the Rolling Stones, the Allman Brothers, Government Mule and the Black Crowes. They have wasted no time making their presence known, including performance at the Main Street Arts Festival in Fort Worth, the Bikes Blues and BBQ festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and opening slots for such established artists as Mickey and the Motorcars, Honeybrowne, and John Nitzinger.
Josh Davis grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, and studied blues, rock, and jazz guitar under one of the best guitarists in the state, Dave Millsap. Dave has toured and recorded with some of the world’s most renowned musicians, including Bonnie Raitt, Albert Collins, and Delbert McClinton, and received a Grammy nomination for his work on Delbert’s 1989 album, Live in Austin. Barely in high school, Josh shared the stage with Dave several times at local blues joints like J&J’s Blues Bar and the Jazz Cafe.
In 1999, Josh spent a year in Oxford, Mississippi, performing country, bluegrass, and southern rock with singer/songwriter Ken Edwards. In 2000 he relocated to Austin, Texas, and founded the rock/jam band Forty Thieves. They steadily gained momentum, logging over 100 shows annually in 2003 and 2004 all over the state. Fall of 2004 brought the release of their debut full-length album, I Don’t Owe You a Thing, as well as sponsorships from Bud Light and ESPN Radio, and radio play in several major Texas markets. Forty Thieves parted ways roughly a year later, giving their final performance in February of 2006. Immediately after, Josh went to work playing lead guitar for the Josh Brown Band. Hold You Down, a song written by Davis, will be featured on their upcoming studio release. They quickly hit the road, performing all over Texas until Josh left the group in October of 2006 to once again focus his efforts on his own material.
Currently, Josh is performing and writing with his new band in Fort Worth, Texas. He has recently spent time in the studio with Texas legend John Nitzinger, and is hard at work on House in the Hills, a brand new record that will be released in 2009. He has been the subject of a feature article in the Fort Worth Weekly and was a two-time finalist in 95.9 The Ranch’s Pick n’ Party songwriting contest. Bassist Rick Rigsby has enjoyed heavy radio play for Stop Six, his smooth jazz collaboration with Joseph Vincelli, and was voted into the Texas Tornado of bass Hall of Fame by Buddy Magazine. Lead guitarist Caleb Keeter has toured Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri with Copasetic and later with Joey Farr. With a new record in the works, and experience under their belts, the Josh Davis Band is truly ready to rock.
