Josh Dillard

Josh Dillard

BandFolkSinger/Songwriter

There was a time in an elevator when an adoring fan attempted to describe Josh Dillard. The fan's head exploded. However, before the explosion, words like "hope" "love" and "burden" left his mouth. So did "70s songwriter" and "indie-folk" and "his songs echo in my heart" and "he's neat." Boom.

Biography

Josh Dillard is a walking period piece.

By the looks of him, a vortex most likely opened in the sky, sucked him out of 1972 and spit him out in the 21st century.

Luckily, he's neat.

So is his music.

Josh Dillard crafts folk tunes concerning hurt and loss and burden.

They are woven together by threads of love and hope.

Jackson Browne & Bob Dylan would be proud.

They are who he was eating with when the vortex opened.

Josh Dillard was born in 1981.

The vortex theory has just been thrown out the window.

Josh Dillard has shared the stage with some relatively fantastic songsmiths.

Katie Herzig, Trace Bundy, Aaron Strumpel, and Eric Peters to name a few.

Oh...and don't forget Playdough.

He's a rapper.

Drop a beat.

Josh Dillard had a cover band in college.

He left school in Colorado and moved to Ohio to pursue music...because it makes his heart beat .

The music. Not Ohio.

He ended up delivering mail and almost lost his mind.

After a bike ride to California, he moved back to Colorado.

He loves his mother.

He desires to work with the poor, so he went back to school.

Josh Dillard released "The Kate E.P." in February 2007.

He carries the album in a blue, hard-shell suitcase that smells like cigarettes.

He wants you to hear it.

Josh Dillard loves you.

Lyrics

Kate's Song in G Major

Written By: Josh Dillard

The stars, they speak your name
Through the clouds, through the pouring rain
Through this world, God gave us to see
Through a girl that's changing me

I know one thing is true
I can't stop thinking about you

Cause I can't sleep with you on my mind
I even seem to lose track of time
Cause when you speak, I know I'm gone
I'm barely holding on

Could it be that a passing glance,
Was some kind of strange, beautiful chance
I might be desperate but it's too early to tell
If it's you or if I'm just feeling well

But I know one thing is true
I can't stop thinking about you

Cause I can't sleep with you on my mind
I even seem to lose track of time
Cause when you speak, I know I'm gone
I'm barely holding on

Stars Align

Written By: Josh Dillard

I'm a bird with a broken wing,
You've got a heart that won't unravel
So I'll keep looking for a loose string to pull
And you could pick me up from the gravel

And place me up on a shelf
Together we could find ourselves

If ever the stars align
If whatever I'm looking for I find
Then the night we sat on table mesa will return to us
And you'll call me yours and I'll call you mine

I'm a little boat caught in a stormy sea
And your a leaf wandering in the weather
We'll write it off as a mystery
And place the pieces of our hearts together

Cause you don't know what we're worth
We're like diamonds in the dirt

If ever the stars align
If whatever I'm looking for I find
Then the night we sat on table mesa will return to us
And you'll call me yours and I'll call you mine

Fight For You

Written By: Josh Dillard

It's strange to see what time can do
It's strange to think about how the light was once bend to blue
But I am haunted by you Kate
some say it's too late, some say it's too late

But there ain't nothing I wouldn't do
I'd go to my grave chasing you

You could hang your love up on a star
I'm still gonna make my way to get where you are
I may be broken but I ain't scared of these scars
And I'm gonna fight for you, I'm gonna fight for your heart

The clouds roll back and the sun breaks through
And the longer I live, the more I think of you

So I'll be waiting for you Kate
It's never too late, It's never too late

But there ain't nothing I wouldn't do
I'd go to my grave chasing you

You could hang your love up on a star
I'm still gonna make my way to get where you are
I may be broken but I ain't scared of these scars
And I'm gonna fight for you, I'm gonna fight for your heart
