Bio

Between 1999-2001, Josh's Punk-Pop group "Dumdums" were pioneers of the British bubblegum-punk movement. Their first single hit the Official UK Top 20 and led to four UK hit singles from the first hit album, "It Goes Without Saying". They sold out tours all over the UK including Shepherds Bush Empire in London, hit the covers of the music mags, made fans of rock legends such as Queen's Brian May, Alice Cooper, The Jam's Paul Weller, Steve Winwood, and The Who's John Entwistle, and signed a lucrative record deal with MCA in the USA. Josh signed to Sony/ATV publishing at 20 years old as the frontman, guitarist and principle writer.

But while recording the second album, the band span off into personal breakdown and Josh decided that rather than capitalise on the bands successful debut, he would rather leave everything and disappear to discover what he really wanted to do with his life. So he sold and gave away all his personal belongings and moved from the UK with his wife to Nashville, Tennessee, a town where he was a stranger and he could get some space to write something that would define him as an artist and a writer - the land of the greatest songwriters - he needed a new challenge, a higher bar than the one afforded by the English rock scene.

So five years later, from the tradition of the great works of American, middle class angst literature comes Josh Doyle's debut solo album, "The Long Distance Runner". With its central character reminiscent of Rabbit Angstrom in "Rabbit, Run", Al Pacino's Sonny in "Dog Day Afternoon", Kevin Spacey's Lester Burnham in "American Beauty", it is a concept rock record following the lead of Pink Floyd, Bowie, and Radiohead. It comes from a solo performer who is miles away from the current crop of prettyboy singer-songwriters trying to get highschool girls to like them because they're so "sensitive". A rock record with balls from a man who has been out there in the "real world" for a few years, he has played the "rockstar" and now lives as the common working man - paying bills, getting his thrills and trying to make his relationships work.

He is currently finishing the album with rock producer Joe Baldridge (Family Force 5, Jewel, Fighting Instinct) in Nashville, TN.
