Josh Fields Band

The members of the Josh Fields Band -- Josh Fields, Tim Sharpe, Johnny Long and Robbie Lanoue -- come from various backgrounds, both in life and in music. In early 2009, these four lives collided in the small town of Waynesville, North Carolina to create a sound and begin a journey. Josh Fields, from Waynesville, NC, had spent the prior 8 years in Chapel Hill, NC. After creating the Tobacco Road Band in 2006, Josh earned his chops playing the Chapel Hill scene and began dabbling in songwriting. In December of 2008 he returned to the mountains of Western North Carolina, where he met Tim Sharpe.
Lead guitarist Tim Sharpe, from Bethel, NC, had spent the prior 15 years playing with Sonoma Road, a band him and his brother founded. Sonoma Road played a regional circuit around North and South Carolina.
Bassist Johnny Long, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, came to the mountains of WNC with Ricky Wood of Bluegrass fame. After joining the Josh Fields Band, Johnny moved to Waynesville. Johnny has performed professionally since the tender age of 14, playing with artists ranging from The Kendalls, Johnny Lee, Freddie Fender and Wayne Newton. An avid songwriter, Johnny has written over 150 songs.
Drummer Robbie Lanoue, from Schroon Lake, NY, brought his own style to the Josh Fields Band. Influenced by his father, an accomplished drummer in the upstate New York area, Neil Pert (Rush) and John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) just to name a few, Robbie rock influences give that edge to the Josh Fields Band.

In all the members of the Josh Fields Band have compiled over 50 years experience in stage performance. We pride ourselves on very tight three part harmonies and high energy live shows. We like real music with some roots and edge and appeal.

We are influenced by many different artists in many different genres. Josh's influences include Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle, Haggard, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, Alabama, Dwight Yoakam, Jamey Johnson and Cross Canadian Ragweed. Tim is influenced by Jimmy Olander, Keith Urban, Keith Whitley, Diamond Rio, The Eagles, Kiss. Johnny's influences are Gene Simmons (Kiss), Timothy B. Schmidt (Eagles), Ross Valory (Journey), John McVie (Fleetwood Mac), Greg Jennings (Restless Heart), Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers. While Robbie is influenced by Neil Pert (Rush), Carter Beauford (Dave Mathews Band), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Jose Pasillas (Incubus), Chad Sexton (311) and New Orleans Funk Drummer Stanton Moore.
