Bio

Performing songwriter Josh Fischer grew up in a small town in west-central Minnesota listening to the music of Michael W. Smith, Garth Brooks and Loreena McKennitt. One might think that combining such an eclectic collection of influences into one sound might prove to be an insurmountable task. But Fischer’s debut CD Revolution – released in May 2001, will take the listener on an emotional journey laced by musical stylings that will make you think that Nashville really isn’t that far from LA after all.

Primarily a keyboardist and vocalist, Fischer began playing piano at age 5. Being taught the basic fundamentals by his father during the first year, Fischer continued formal piano studies through his senior year of high school. Josh was very involved in his high school band and choir programs and is also primarily self-taught on the guitar, trumpet, drums, harmonica and Irish tin flute. Fischer began writing and performing his songs in high school. He has had the opportunity to showcase his talents nationally as well as internationally, including performances in Mexico, Canada, England, France, Switzerland, Italy and Germany.

Fischer’s debut project Revolution, includes 13 songs written by Fischer including a collaborative effort on track 13, written by Fischer and Amber Johnson. In addition to the writing, Josh also contributed all instrumental tracks on the album. The album is produced by Josh Fischer and John Wiik. Considering the diverse musical influences on Fischer’s music, Revolution is sure to have something for everyone. The energetic, first-kiss romance of “Katie and I” is a favorite among the younger crowd, as well as the young at heart. The haunting tale told of the Revolutionary war through a child’s eyes in “1776”; and the bitter-sweet depiction of a loved one’s last days in “Someday” will reach into the listener’s soul and leave them with something they won’t soon forget.

In addition to his musical career, Fischer is also a nationally registered paramedic who gives his time in service to the community who has so readily embraced his singing and songwriting. Fischer will be performing regionally this summer, promoting his debut release. He is also beginning work on his second album, due out in spring of 2003.
