"About Josh Gilbert's Music and Performance"

"Whenever I think about creating an event and I turn to the music component, I always think of Josh Gilbert. What I get from Josh -- besides melodious vocals and great guitar -- is absolute commitment to the performance. Great songs. Check. Great musicianship. Check. Great vocals. Check. But all of these things without the courage to commit to the performance amount to nothing. In my eyes, Josh is an artist in every sense of the word. The fact that I can say all of these things and still praise his humility, flexibility, and graciousness should tell you everything you need to know. I unreservedly recommend Josh Gilbert's music"
"When he (Josh) is creating that moment on stage through music, he (Josh) is doing what God put him on earth to do..."

- Alex McManus, Director of IMN Church-Planting Conference, Voxtropolis Benefit Concert Series, & Co-F

"Album Review - Josh Gilbert 'Live Tracks & Acoustic Sessions' EP"

After two successful albums with his band Jettison Never, Josh Gilbert is branching out to take some of his softer, folk rock songs on the road. While he has a full album in the works scheduled for early next year, Gilbert just released an appropriately named six song EP entitled “Live Tracks & Acoustic Sessions” to give fans a taste of what’s to come from his solo efforts.

Josh Gilbert’s voice and melodic style have a distinctive signature that is unmistakable regardless of the genre of music he is working in. The passion of his vocal delivery has echoed through on his previous work, but in the acoustic setting there is a soulfulness that eagerly finds its way out. Whether he is working through a weathered folk song like “Crucified”, or a tune like the more upbeat ballad “Taking Back the Night”; Gilbert’s vocals have an added character that wasn’t as detectable within his Jettison Never body of work. By getting down to the basics and minimal accompaniment of his six string, this soul filled element absolutely jumps out at you. - Chris Branch, Rocksposure.com

"Jettison Never end tour with return to Scenic City"

"For Jettison Never, 2009 has been a long year of nearly endless touring. After almost 10 years playing together, from their early teens through their early 20s, brothers Josh and Matt Gilbert and their cousin Ben Phillips decided it was time to get serious or get out of the game. "It was like, 'Do we keep doing this as a hobby or do we actually try to do something more with it, whether that's the right thing to do or not?'" said Josh Gilbert, the group's lead singer. "It's definitely more than a hobby. "We've felt that way since we came of age, after our developing and growing stages." The trio decided to buckle down, buckle up and hit the road to seek out new fans in venues across the country. The last 11 months of touring, hitting clubs from the Pacific Northwest to New England, have been quite an adventure, Josh said...." - Casey Phillips, Chattanooga Times/Free Press, Chattanooga, TN

"Listen Up - Jettison Never"

"The members of Jettison Never have spent a great deal of their careers touring. Yet the alternative-rock outfit from Chattanooga, Tenn., is on a mission to get more fans, especially since their latest album, "Waiting For Apparitions," is set to be released this fall. The three-piece band is embarking on a spring tour that will include a stop at The Rock Shop on Saturday. The show also will include local acts Oakcrest, Messenger of Hope and Dreamkiller. Josh Gilbert, the band's guitarist and lead vocalist, said concert-goers can expect to hear some of their new music. "We'll be performing three or four songs from our new CD that we've been working on this winter," he said. Jettison Never formed in 1998 with Gilbert, his brother and bass player, Matt, and their cousin and drummer, Ben Phillips. They took their musical cues from influencing acts like Coldplay, The Killers and Kings of Leon..." - Jessica DeVault, Fayetteville Observer, Fayetteville, NC

"Gig Alert: Jettison Never - Dallas Observer"

"...Even though the band hails from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jettison Never hasn't a country or southern rock bone in its collective body. Instead, the trio led by brothers Matt and Josh Gilbert mines the modern sounds of Mute Math, Coldplay and Kings of Leon in its search for mainstream success. And, actually, on Jettison Never's 2009 full-length, They Fall from Heaven Unassembled, the band's reliance on riffs lifted straight off U2 and Police albums is abundantly clear. But that's not that such is a bad thing; better to steal from Bono than Chris Martin, at least in my world..." - Darryl Smyers, Dallas Observer

"Jettison Never - At The Syndey, Omaha, NE - 4/8/10"

"...........Chattanooga, TN’s Jettison Never finished out the night, blowing the doors off of the unfortunately Omaha’d Sydney (Omaha’d: the curious Omaha phenomenon of locals showing up to support their friends and leaving before the headline touring act, leading to empty-roomed encores). Jettison Never may have borrowed their falsetto from Coheed and Cambria, and their totally sweet Orange amp stack from the past, but their sound, compelte with a whole slew of pedals, is straight from the future, baby! Rawk! .........." -by, Jordy Clements April 9, 2010 - Jordy Clements, Omaha.net, Omaha, NE

"Ears To The Ground - CD Review - Jettison Never"

"...Veterans by most industry standards, Chattanooga brothers Matt and Josh Gilbert, along with cousin Ben Phillips, meld their characteristic shimmering guitar sounds, driving beats and thoughtful lyrics for this multi-dimensional sophomore effort..." - Sonic South, Blog Georgia/Virginia, sonicsouth.net

"Jettison Never - Waiting For Apparitions - Album Review"

"Jettison Never has impressed me since the beginning with their creative sound. It’s outside the box from just about everything else in mainstream music right now. In a cookie cutter modern music world, they’ve found a way to separate themselves from the masses again through their combination of harmony and speed on ‘Waiting for Apparitions”. Where this new edginess will take them is yet to be seen, but based on this album it can’t be anywhere but up..."

"Music Feature - Jettison Never - The Pulse"

"By the appearance of these two men at my house and finding out they were only in their mid-20s, I was intrigued by the amount of touring they had done. In 2009, Jettison Never played 200 shows in 70 cities. The ability to revisit a city and figure out the best Wal-Mart parking lot, build new friendships or even see old friends in cities such as Seattle, Santa Cruz and Chicago has become the best part about touring for them. The brothers definitely agreed that smaller cities and venues such as The Balcony in Houma, Louisiana, prove to be just as rewarding. As 2010 slowed down due to a marriage and working their “real jobs” in order to hit the studio, this show on February 4 will slide them into their 2011 tour. Jettison Never has opened for acts such as Bowling for Soup, Cool Hand Luke, Pillar and band favorite, Mute Math...." - Tara V., The Pulse, Chattanooga, TN
