Josh McKinney's music meets people where they are and aims at connecting them with God. It seeks to provide hope to those in despair, comfort to those who are hurting, rest to those who are weary, and an overall emphasis on how all of these things are found through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

I was born and raised in the Denver Metro area of Colorado. It was there that I developed relationship with Jesus Christ at a young age as well as a love and passion for music. I spent many family road trips listening to Michael W. Smith and singing along out loud, and looked forward to church every week ( where I loved singing during worship service and doing the motions to “Father Abraham”, “Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho”, and various other songs during Sunday School. Littleton Bible Chapel was also the place where I began leading worship, first for the Sunday morning High School group and then occasionally for the main congregational worship service.

I graduated from D’Evelyn High School ( in 2000, where I was very active and was involved in establishing and leading worship for two Christian organizations toward the end of my high school years.

After high school I made a big move to William Jewell College (, a Christian Liberal Arts College in Liberty, MO. During my college years I became involved with Christian Student Ministries and began leading worship for various ministries on campus. My sophomore year I was the Worship Coordinator for the school’s summer ministry team and traveled to various camps throughout Missouri and Kansas. During college I also began writing original music and performing at various venues throughout Kansas City, MO. I graduated with a B.S. in Religion from Jewell in 2004.

After graduating I spent a year leading worship part-time for a cutting edge Young Adults ministry at Grace Point Baptist Church ( in Kansas City, MO and then a year
leading worship on a volunteer basis at Coastal Community Church (, a multi-site church located in Virginia Beach, VA. During these years I began developing even more as a Worship Leader and continued writing and performing music.
In June of 2006 I made the move down to Groveland, FL to take a position as Worship Pastor at Legacy Church ( Since then I have begun leading worship and performing at various venues and events throughout Florida and occasionally outside of Florida.

Capture Me

Written By: Josh McKinney

Father lead me to the broken state where my past mistakes and the things that hold me back from you come into view and get stripped away. Lead me to where I can see and hear you more, face down on the floor where distractions disappear and all that is left here is You and me.

Where You capture me with Your mystery and all else fades away as You begin to say how much You adore me and the things You have for me and how You'll always guide my way. And as I'm filled with emotion by the things you have spoken my heart comes alive and my soul is revived, and as the tears fill my eyes You come to my side and smile as we warmly embrace.
